Carthage (Bruindane)
Turn 38

-Summary-
Queen Consort Lampedo the Scythian (Your Wife), General of the The Harii, has died in the field.

Sadly our queen died, but we slay another Babylon warrior in her memory. I don’t want to give CMF extra or obvious options for Rome’s 5+ units to attack, so I leave Ichabod the worker unharmed to allow my Elite Amazon Calvary to hide in the woods, while presenting two tactician generals for them to test instead, imploring Ginger to withdraw as well.

Our team now has 16 cities to their 12 with Rome and I both settling in the past year. In civ 6 we’d have around 3 each at this turn number.

Turn 39

The Withdrawal to Bastions

The situation at the beginning of Rome's move.

The game continues on, surprisingly, though Rome remains a formidable force and Babylon has advanced units, but we are fighting with all of our troops concentrated while their reinforcements travel from afar.

We are at 31 of 37 points for a double points victory which could happen in the next ten turns or so. We've made so many mistakes while learning the ropes, it's a sandbox adventure anyway. We got lucky at the right times with our battles, enabling me to build random stuff of questionable short-term value compared to more military.

At the start of Rome's turn, they are left with difficult choices.

Ginger has moved in the mobile skirmishers that I didn't have orders for (my last turn used 1/3 of my total just on attacks), which are acceptable losses as we can halve the Roman southern force in response and threaten Patavium.

They could possibly choose to hurt my leader led slinger to stop the stunning attacks, which might keep Babylon's new chariot in play, but this also leads to Roman troop losses.

If Rome retreats, we strike at the Babylonian capital.

Yeah I've been saying that this game is functionally over because of the development pace (I'm currently at 90 science, 170 civics, 34 orders per turn, finishing Doctrine next turn)/

But it looks like you're going to storm all their remaining southern cities without the assistance of an army of Egyptian Kushite Cavalry (still 10 turns away from production). I wouldn't be surprised if they concede before I build a single one.

Excellent work. Goes to show how one can't keep facing advancing armies with under-concentrated forces in Old World smile

If we're still playing this game next turn, can you send me 200 wood, 200 food, and 100 stone please? Food is for training specialists, wood is for the ranges, monasteries and unique units, and the stone is for Temples.
Peace is non-negotiable

Turn 42

-Summary-
Duchess Ashtarte speaks of a direct connection with God, in His name forgoing all luxury and becoming an Ascetic.
With a mild fever and a runny nose, Prince Pygmalion (Your Son, General of Warrior, Your Heir) is rather Ill.

-Religion-
Zoroastrianism spreads to Neapolis.

Getting six orders to catch up on builder actions was a nice event.
We settle another Artisan city to our north, kill a roman scout, capture the former Babylona, and look forward to axes next turn.

King Amenenhat is doomed, but what a magnificent king and governor he is.

Carthage (Bruindane)
Turn 43

-Summary-
Prince Pygmalion (Your Son) is no longer Ill, he has fully recovered!
Duke Feroan the Younger (Your Son, Governor of Saldae, Second in Line) will do anything for personal gain. He is Corrupt!

-Combat-
Quarry will disappear in 5 Years!

-Science-
Discovered Steel

Turn 45 should see the double points victory tick on Egypt's turn, or on mine if there's a military kill near Leptis for the last 10 culture. There's a roman scout near Arae that could do some mischief if they hired all those Scythian mercenaries.

Carthage (Bruindane)
Turn 44

-Summary-
News arrives from abroad that Idanthirs is dead. Queen Arga now leads the Scythians.
Duchess Ashtarte (Your Daughter, Third in Line) is likely to fly into a rage if she does not get her own way, a most Spoiled person!

-Religion-
Judaism spreads to Nora.

One more turn... I move the scouts for the first time in decades to check for any reinforcements. Scythian alliance ends; not worth the 4 illegitimacy.

My slinger appears to have teleported northerly, which makes me suspect that there was a scout in the forest where the Scythian merc is now.
