Need for Speed: Ichabod & Ravus chasing the Dream

It's really unfortunate to be choked like this...

I think we should go for Mysticism next. God King will be massive for both of us. We can live for a while longer without cottages. After Myst and Education, IU think we should go for mining. We don't need aristocracy so early.

Wining this will probably hard after the choking, so let's try to have a lot of fun. Spam some cities, spam horses and go get some revenge. Like an annoying fly or something :P.

Yeah. It's made worse by the continuing score increase of the other teams. It's a good job we could rush to HBR or this would be even worse.

Allright I will switch to Mysticism. I was actually thinking of Education for the rush to aristocracy for yourself. Once you get that you can expand with your new cities being self sustainable that much more easily. But alright, you normally have a better sense of 'need' for techs early game. Mysticism will certainly help get out the riders for early defence quickly. If we get that AND mining then I definatly want to set up two squads of normal horses to go on a pillage run.

That should be enough revenge for me untill the Horse/Centaur Archers arrive.

I've marked the best spot for us to ambush the goblin archers in our lands. The crossing river negates the archer bonus so we either need to wait for them to cross back or to set up a assault force over the river. They do have a lower attack so it's possible. But now that they have spotted the rider I fear they will link up with the new THIRD archer. to make it even harder to break them.

The sods.

I hope they are to the south or west. Want to flip a coin about who gets the send their own rider group where?

Well, I don't mind teching education first too. I saw you went for it and decided to select it too. But Mysticism will be really good.

You can always cross the river with the centaurs extra movement and then negate the bonus. But my warriors can't do it, so I can't be sure if they would be able to even scratch the archers.

I'll probably start a worker and then a settler on my capital. Then, it's stable + horsemen.

Very well lets grab mysticism. I'll swap next turn.

And yes the Centaurs can do that with their increased movement. But we need the Warriorpults I think to weaken them. We'll see what they do before the second Centaur is built. They have allready targeted one farm and the lumbermill for pillaging next.

I agree you should push out a second city. It's been far to long as is. I hope you have enough Warriors to defend though. Between the large amounts of animals and now barbs appearing we could allways get even worse luck and have another nation sending in their own pillaging units.

Have you managed to clear away those pesky archers?

Nope. But we have two centaurs (one took out a barbarian for some experiance) and we have a nice plantation rebuilt as bait, If we can lure them into pillaging it just as the third Centaur gets build we can take them out.

I'll post an update with pictures tomorrow for us to discuss some things, Ravus. Boy, the last few days have been extremely busy for me. I'm barely finding time to play the turns, let alone think about what to do.

I could tell you a lot about these turns. I could regail the lurkers with blow by blow accounts as the Archers advanced onto Kuriotate Lands. How they pillage our lands. How we, the valiant defenders sped to Horseback Riding and got Centaurs out to fight this menace.

How this assault on our lands became a cat and mouse game of manoeuvring. My speed against his defence. The Shocking twist as a third Orcish Archer appeared on the horizon and joined in and ruined our chances at stopping this menace.

I COULD tell you all about this with words and pictures but it's pointless. Especially when a before and after picture works so much better to sum up this depressing era in our nation.

At this point the Archers had already pillaged the plantation once and it had been rebuilt as bait to lure them onto flat ground. They stick to forests and hills.

It was around this point where Ichabod and I basically decided that we were ruined unless we took some risks with expansion. Nothing can dislodge 3 Longbow equivilant archers from a hill this early in the game. So we locked them onto the hills and went for a settler push followed by a Worker spam.

I'll put up some more modern pictures in a bit because I need to cordinate the deforesting and roading of the area around the Goblin Archers. A bit of a risk but at this point we laugh at risks! :neenernee

so far I am up to 7 workers and 3 cities living under goblin sight and Ichabod is up to 2 cities and living under MASSIVE waves of skeletons. It's pretty insane down there. After this seventh worker i'm going to spam centaurs to help up the defence of the realms before pushing out the last 2 cities I can hold and then helping Round off the Hippus Empire with more settlers.

We should probably decide what tech to grab next as well.
