I know that was due to a golden age, but your MFG lead is quite impressive! Plan to turn that into soldiers and more land any time soon?

More like turning it into soldiers and thus not-less land. Seriously, Sian and Boldly are both about to be sending big stacks of knights into France, I'm fairly certain. Actually upon reflection I'm getting Engineering before Gunpowder, pikes are going to be big, and Castles even bigger.

Interesting times. First of all, I took the riskier but high-reward path of Education unto Gunpowder, as mentioned, but I managed to get into top power. Maces do fairly well against knights, in better numbers...
So onward with the building! Just finished turn 115, Gunpowder a turn out, HE done... Unfortunately, maces do poorly against CKNs. So it's scramble cats and pray time. If it's just Slow, not a problem, we're fine. If Boldly, however, piles on, we're in trouble.

The good news: Lake Commodore is safe. So I can research Optics next if needs be must, but overall, the most important region is secure.

Apparently, it was just a massive stack to project a pillaging sword long enough to get rid of my horses?
Oh no! Now I can't build 2-movers! ITS BOOM TIME.

hehe. do musketeers ride bicycles to 2 move if they don't have access to horses?

Given those stylin' dagger beards I think they swing gallantly from ropes.

Well this is a highly appropriate number of musketeers to build in one turn.
Back into the only place that matters, Lake Commodore: Good thing all those salmon-bearing rivers drain into it, because boys, we're fishing this place hardcore. Still no sign of any Sianic or Bold ships; it's playing King of the Hill, where the hill gives a +10% bonus and the king has two massively well-promoted triremes. Here's the best of the bunch, Unhygenix. Moai hammers are nice, the culture is nice, the Colossus is very nice. Now we just need to hook all these whales... Operation: Make Lake Commodore Safe is entering its next phase.

Yep, I'm dumping a crossbow in there next turn, then finishing the library. Then it's temple, cathedral, happy woes gone.
