If we move the scout away from the north, we risk a barb spawning on that tundra tile. That's why I wanted to wait till the 3rd ring border pop with further scouting. You ok with that? I think the plains hill / corn /flood plains spot across the channel will be our first city there, great terrain and fast unit transfer.

We won't find much better than that spot, that's for sure. So scout as you like

Moved the scout onto the tundra, because nothing else to do, and it turned out actually worthwile:
Now I'm really convinced it would be good to settle up there. As established, we need early happiness. It is a bit far in the future still (like, after green dot, the city across the channel, one more there and one more on the island we could start thinking about it), but we should consider it, adequately timing it with Calendar. Would we settle on the furs or on the marble? I'm thinking furs, as that way the quarry can provide at least a little production up there. Of course it also depends on whether we find seafood up there.
Demos are not all that boring this time. First, it seems our opponents are researching first row now (like, mining), while we are getting bonus on AH. But also somebody is still working a plains forest. That only makes sense if he is building a second EXP worker.
Btw, one big downside of not having the Wheel like Mardoc and Alhazard is that we can't build roads while moving the worker. One road would have sped up green dot by one turn . Well, some lessons are learnt the hard way. Instead, I put a turn into farming a riverside grassland that we most probably want to cottage anyway

A city on the marble would have access to the deer though.
What I find most interesting is the soldier count, it's now 6 6 4k. Wasn't it 6 4 2 last turn ?

Good point on the marble spot.
Didn't save demos on T6, but in T5 it was 6/4/2. Maybe 2 more people researched Hunting? That would align with everyone having 44 score.
Edit: it doesn't fit with them agetting prereq bonus before. Does AH give 2k power and 6 score?
Edit2: 2k power is true.

Checking on the T6 save the demos were 6/4/2 still. 2 people have gotten AH, so everyone seems to be doing the same thing as us, agri+AH then BW. They'll need mining to mine the hill like we're going to do but they can choose to road instead. Except for China whose great starting techs will send to an early leadership probably : they can chop directly without needing to mine to pass the time. Basically I'm expecting everyone's micro to be similar to ours, which makes sense with the tech choices. We'll see where they put their 2nd city though, and when they go for the continent, that choice will determine the game IMO.

Played T8. No new discoveries. We are growing on the work boat for 4 turns now. On the last turn, the farm finishes and we grow to size 2.

...and we got our second turn for the day! Hopefully THH gets a sub for the weekend, so we can keep this game moving.
The action-loaded turns of finishing things, moving workers and changing production are over for now. This turn we did literally nothing, just kept growing.
SInce nothing happened, I post a closeup of our projected settling site overseas. We can gaze a lake (?) and some forests. Btw, do we want to settle with corn first ring or next to the flood plains?
Demos are almost unchanged, just rival average MFG went down one point. I suppose it is someone changing from 2/1/1 sheep to 3/0/1 FP, and we don't notice it in crop yield due to flooring

I'm more in favor of corn first ring, so the worker can farm it right away (there'd still be a FP in the first ring in case we want commerce). Also it would be a potential moai location. At least as long as we have no more info I vote for corn first ring.

You sure on Moai? I count 8 coast tiles. Green dot has 10, is a production city and also has good production for hammering it out (+ can start earlier probably). Or am I missing something?
