[PB25-SPOILERS] The Lunacy of the Reign of HAK Continues

Logged in to this diplo from Ruff:

As I said in the chat, I didn't accept it. We can decide what type of trade we send back to him, but I'm not giving him any additional happy resources at this point without him giving us GPT. We actually still have some active trades involving these resources, so I think he wants to wait to have these be accepted before canceling those. We can discuss our trades with Ruff in the chat.

Next, F'n Commodore was able to kill the Nav1 Galleon.

His first attack was a 21.9% odds fight where the Galleon sank his Caravel without taking a single hit. He then tried with the other Caravel at the same odds, and sank the galleon. Ugh. If only the galleon had taken a hit or two while sinking the first one, the other Galleon would have likely been the defender. I would have preferred to lose the C1 Galleon over the Nav1 Galleon. frown He moved another C1 Carvel to cover his wounded survivor, so the original plan of having the galleon flee to the canal is still the only option.

And now for the worse part....So now we are definitely in trouble. He is officially moving on both chokes in force....
The first few screenshots show the military he is bringing to Hungry. They also show where all his navy is.

Looks like I should have agreed to concede the game to Commodore back while I was solidly in 2nd place. At this rate, Donovan will take 2nd place from me before the game gets conceded.

For any discussion this morning, below is the current build queue:

Moved one of my Caravel to take a quick peek at Quiet Riot just to confirm that he still is reinforcing it for Gavagai, which he is:

And here is the final defenses of Sore for the end of the turn. There will be one more Rifle in there BOT before Comm can attack.

Now we just wait to see what happens.

Hey HAK,

Maybe we can get 3 more galleons from him for the happy resources?

Soooo......we are definitely in rough waters....with a big hole in the side of the ship....with a drunken captain steering......with both eyes closed.....and no sails.

First we have the battle of Alexandria, where the city went down in flames...

We had drafted a Rifle here, and the city built one on it's own, and we paid to upgrade a Pinch Cuir to a Cavalry, hoping we'd hold the city for one more turn and/or kill a bunch of his stuff.....nope...RNG hated us. After the cannons his first attack was with his Knight for 47.3% odds vs my Cavalry, and he won. The Rifle & Musket I killed were 80+% battles for him, but I also lost a couple that were in the 50-60% for him.

After that, we have the Sore Assault:

I haven't really spent time analyzing this one (and don't feel like scrolling through the combat log again try try to look at any individual fights), but I killed 7 Cannons & 4 Catapults and then 2 Rifles, 5 Muskets, & 1 Knight. Whereas he killed 3 Cavalry, 2 Rifles, & 3 Curassiers. So I suppose I came out on top for now, but he's got more coming (though so do I). But those Cannon are just destroying me and that's where it hurts. He's got more healthy ones that just arrived and more that will arrive next turn.

So after that we have the normal Demos:

So now we move on to an overview of what things look like. We have the details of his remaining units after taking Alexandria:

This shot also shows what his navy is doing. He's currently blockading Happy with his Galleys.

Over at Hungry (which in the Sore Attack log there was some bombardment of Hungry in there), this is where we are the worst off. He's got a massive stack there with more about to arrive. He's going to HAMMER this city, as he's got quite the group of Cannons and Rifles there. These are all the super promoted units that returned from the retep war.

So I don't think there is anything I can do....he's going to take Hungry next turn.

The situation at Sore isn't as dire, but it's still going to be a tough one. This one we actually need to decide if we counter-attack, which I'm thinking we just have to try...

I've already moved into the city any Cavs & Cuirs that can reach it this turn (and participate in attacking his units). The 19 Catapults would hit his stack first. Only one of them has the promo for added collateral.
Then I have 2 F2 Cavalry that would likely go first for hopeful retreats and flanking away at some Cannons. After that, we'd have to start checking odds. The only fully healthy mounted units are a C1-Pinch & C1 Cuir. Most of the rest are pretty heavily wounded.
Then on those 3 Galleys are units that can get unloaded into the city after they are transferred to the 2 Galleons. They would get dropped off from the boats into the city so would not get to act this turn. Well I suppose if I move the galleon closest to the galleys inside the city to unload then the 3 Cuirs on it could attack this turn. But if we then lose the city, the Galleon is sunk. Then again, if we lose Sore....our game is sunk. So I suppose we'll likely do that to have 3 more attackers into his stack.

After that we'll have 6 more Rifle upgrades to do. We would have had enough for 7 upgrades, but Comm capturing Alex cost us some gold. And then 3 more Drafts in places that will get us defenders where we need them most.

EDIT: Forgot to mention that as seen in the log, we got a Great General that spawned at In-N-Out. I figure I'm going to need to send him towards the front, attach him to a warrior or such and give him Medic promos...since I realized this front does not have a medic. So that's another problem I'm going to face. Comm will heal on the turn roll due to his medic, whereas I won't have a medic helping me.

I think that's about it for right now. I Iz Tired.

Hey HAK,

Last thing. Those caravels by SOre need to get over to Dragon Judge and cut off his supply lines there. We can't let him move over his cannons over to that area or we'll be on the defensive over there.

I'd say that MC's failed at the chokes but succeeded in costing us an arm and a leg in gold. He'll have a much better chance in GavagaiLand if he manages to get his cannons over there. We can't draft yet and can't produce as much units quite yet.

The next crisis will be once MC gets to factories. I'd like to avoid a crisis in GavagaiLand before that.

Ah crap,...just realized that we didn't settle on where to move the cats,...I would have suggested moving towards Hungry.

Did you end up moving them?

No, I didn't. They stayed in place. Also forgot to send the resource diplo to Ruff. So I'm hoping Commodore plays his turn before Ruff does so that I can get in to send it to him.

So I'm not really up for fully analyzing right now and with tomorrow being Sunday, not sure how best to handle getting the turn done. I might actually ask for a pause, but we'll see.
First a log of what happened in the combats....

I believe the first rounds are all up at Hungry. Then he sends Cannons and stuff at Sore.

Here's the resulting situation at Hungry:

This result is a bit disheartening. He decimated Hungry. And with what he's brought in (and still bringing...including that Super Medic Rifle), I don't know if there is anything I can do to hold the city next turn.

And then at Sore (including our two naval stacks):

I'll be unloading those 3 C2 Cuirs into the city from the Galleon. Only reason I didn't was just in case it might be a good idea to move the galleon inside the city and attack his stack with them on the offchance they withdraw and do some flanking. Which it likely wouldn't, but just waiting to do the unload for the moment.

We are both piling up Caravels and he's also building a bunch of Triremes. So his stack is about the same size as mine, but way more promoted. So I still don't have nearly enough ships to break him up there. He's able to build them faster than me and with promos. All of mine (except those coming out of Sonic...which I think I need to switch over to Cavalry) come out with no xp.
Down at Sore I have more likelyhood of holding the city still for the moment, but he's building Rifles quicker than I can, and his come out with WAY more promos. Both because he gets D1 automatically, and he's in Theology which I can't switch into until I am in a Golden Age, which will likely never happen before he tramples me.

I'll examine some stuff in game a bit more, but then I'll likely log out until sometime tomorrow afternoon. Since my morning gets all taken up. And since I may be going out in the afternoon with my wife, that's another reason I may end up asking for a pause.
