[SPOILERS] Lewger goes for the Bigwyn

for lurkers, civics of known civs:

we have the same civics as commodore

scooter is the trade route slut, he has open borders with everyone we known. we are missing only our neighbors, azza and serdoa, and are still #1 on imports. serdoa only has routes with scooter and azza. hmm, if scooter would block commodore I might be willing to join in and do the same. too bad no diplo :/.

lack of trade routes explains why he is only getting 113 GPT at max tax despite getting probably 40 gpt from his shrine (we're getting 153 with only 19gpt from shrine). commodore is getting 109 gpt, scooter 150gpt (very close to us). xenu is at 100% science this turn and azza is breakeven researching machinery.

given this, not sure how we're #5 gnp this turn. plako and slowcheetah could have their research on, so I'll put them ahead of us. pretty sure we're ahead of azza even with his research turned onto breakeven - and I know we're ahead of serdoa and commodore this turn (from the GPT being so much lower than ours, and graphs tell me we dipped ahead of serdoa 2 turns ago, when he turned off his science).

possibly scooter? I don't know. we're pretty much neck and neck now. yuri turned on his research this turn as well, so that could be 1 as well. or maybe serdoa is barely ahead of us with all his wonder culture.

played about half the turn, will have to come back later and finish it

I think Serdoa is going to try a monk economy

assuming no barb appears on the sheep tile, Nibelungheid will be founded next turn. settler will move there.. if there is a barb he'll retreat and wait on the mace from maths, I guess.

Doesn't spawn-busting work over 2 or 3 tiles? I think the sheep is safe.

Harry is correct. The worker has been spawnbusting a total 5x5 area, so the sheep tile is clear.

Even if you lack sight on the tile? That's good to know, and something I never knew. I assumed it was visible tiles only.

I was more concerned that a barb might have been on the sheep before I moved in the area. Not seriously concernd, though wink.

azza finished machinery (a turn sooner than I expected, I guess he turned up his rate last turn - thats what I get for playing before him, hehe) and is researching engineering!! that is great news, since im building a macemen army and not a HA/elephant army. also means there is more merit for going paper/lib route instead of guilds route, although I'm still afraid of serdoa hitting us in the east with knights.

more to come when I finish the turn.

Engineering is good. The extra road movement is terrific and extremely valuable when defending. Also for attacking when using 1-movers.

a few notes: azza finished machinery, as noted, and started engineering. one day we'll use a spy to steal it from him, I think smile.
we completed our first 2 maces, in gilgamesh and song of roland.

new city of nibelgund:
granary chops in in 4 turns. I have 2 workers in the city that will start the sheep next turn. Im hoping for a free jew spread - although it won't touch culture borders with the empire until the first pop, it has a road connection in place. if not eventually ill have to build a missionary :/. there's no way to chain farms here, so I'll build cottages instead - but food won't be abundant. I'll whip in the forge and whip until I have it improved enough to grow.

speaking of new cities:
this is almost very convenient. Unfortunately, I am going to have to raze it - it orphans the seafood N, NE of the deer and makes a very food poor city frown. I have the completed mace from song of roland heading this direction to clear out the city and gain some free xp. Either Next turn or the turn after (haven't decided yet) a settler will whip in popol vuh to replace it.

here we have the first reported citing of a Roman cat. looks like its heading towards Iron maiden - I'm hoping he detours to A7X instead, since we aren't attacking there.

gilgamesh is at size 16:

ok, so I stopped growth here for the duration of the war.
1) I needed to work both mines to pop out maces in exactly 2 turns each
2) giving the rice to the iliad allows me to use the whip there - hoping to get 3 maces out by the time we go to war, then regrow during the war.

whip #1:
GP bar is at 198/200. I whipped the mace finish at the same time as the scientists, so both can load on the waiting galley to transport to the mainland. im not working the silver because I need the food - im planning to get 2 more maces out of here before I need the galley to return to the odyssey for lake transporting smile.

whip #2:
waiting until shahnahmeh reached size 4 to whip the forge. I'll regrow to 4 and then 2 pop whip the ligthouse. I'd like to whip in a trieme next to find the eastern civs, but I may need to get an extra mace here - the eastern front is not developing as fast as the other fronts :/

this worked out pretty well:
I was able to grow to size 7 exactly here. I would like to get the city to size 8, but I really need to give the pigs back to maths next turn. so it will work cottage, the 3 mines, and 3 forests next turn. I have a chop coming in next turn (3rd ring, 2N of the grassland mine) that will kick start the galley, and if I need to I'll whip off the cottage to complete the trieme quickly. might whip off the mines right before D-Day to get a third trieme - I should have a good idea of how big azza's navy is by then from EP's spent.

demos:
well that is fucking scary. note that we are #2 gnp at 100%, but with only 350ish GNP :/. I think its slowcheetah - commodore is still collecting cash.
I'm almost certain we can beat every civ we have made contact w/ to liberalism, but I have no way of knowing how far along plako and slowcheetah are frown.

GNP graph:
this is with both us and serdoa at 0% (azza at breakeven). our economy is surprisingly better than Serdoa's smile. he has a beaker advantage on us mostly because he has used a golden age already and we haven't, I think.
considering we're both at 0% and azza is at breakeven, we're both pretty far ahead of azza here.

power graph:
mahabrata is going to quickly build lighthouse, chop walls in 1 turn, chop library, then barracks, then pump out spears. I'll leave a mace in there in the meantime to compliment axe and archer. I'm just hoping brick, xenu, commodore and azza worry serdoa enough that he won't attempt to knight rush us in the mean time (all of those except commodore should be easier targets and more profitable, anyway).

yes, I know. If we're lucky he builds Notre Dame as well wink.

Regardless it will take him 12 turns, so shouldnt help him in this war. More importantly, pikes are so much less dangerous to us than longbowmen smile.
