Next turn (i.e. hopefully tonight). Well I guess technically it's this turn now as the turn has rolled.

As for Yuri's preparations, we don't know. His power has been rising, but pretty flatly (I'll get a graph a bit later on). He's put walls in his border cities, but that doesn't really make a difference, since it just adds 10% defense since they were already at 40% cultural defense and we're attacking with knights, not bombarding with cats.

We've seen a decent amount of longbows (I think 8, though I'm sure there's more). We've seen a few knights get built but they've all moved elsewhere. No pikes yet. We completed Paper at the end of this turn so we should be able to see what techs he (and everyone) has.

My guess is that Yuri is the type of player that, when he sees our stack of 34 knights, will run away, and try to make a stand somewhere. So I'm cautiously optimistic

First, the bad news





So I'm not sure what we want to do there - there aren't really any good wonders available now / soon. We could just chop all that into a barracks / units, or more infra.

Good news - we didn't sink any hammers into it. Bad news - we didn't sink any hammers into it that can be converted at enhanced fail gold rates. I wonder if my asking for stone a few turns ago clued him in we might be interested in it and made him rush it. He didn't whip it last turn though

As you can see, Yuri is definitely building units. He's not going total farmer's gambit. But nor do we really see any kind of significant spike. I think that's commensurate with the units that we've been seeing - he probably has 10-15 longbows and 5-10 knights, along with (a significant chunk of) ancient era trash like axes, chariots and spears. Also we did not see a new unit born in Char

Remember also that he is in a golden age, and did just revolt to the "war" civics of Serfdom, Bureaucracy, and Organized Religion. It is unfortunate that he's going to be able to revolt back to Slavery anarchy-free in 3t but what can ya do...

Hmm I'm messing with the tech spreadsheet right now but one thing I just noticed is that Yuri has Optics (+1 sight over water, not to mention caravels).

So Operation Funyun is definitely in jeopardy, and I'm hoping that this doesn't cause him to have sight on our stack tile...

Some interesting notes
* Commodore doesn't have Iron Working!!! (I guess you don't need it when you a) don't have any native iron and b) are getting supplied iron for free
* Cyneheard now has Guilds, and can make Cataphracts
* As I mentioned earlier, Yuri has Optics, which makes sense given that he is on the western edge of the coast and wanted to be able to meet Scooter and Mist. This does change our plans for our attack though
* Scooter and dazed are smoking everyone. One would figure that Krill and all his land will catch up, but man he's got twice the beakers of nearly everyone else!!
* Azza is way behind but teched Theology?
* Everyone but us and Cyneheard has Civil Service. Too bad there is no known civs bonus for pre-Paper techs...

I do think that our current plan of teching Gunpowder is a good one. We can hopefully pick up Education from one of those guys, and maybe even sell it for gold to other civs, powering our own research. If we get Education, we can sell that too, right? (to anyone that has Paper)
