[SPOILERS] Lewger goes for the Bigwyn

first, on the brick-serdoa war:
i saw no reason not to accept this. we got complete vision on the island our chariot explored before he sunk, and a little more vision on plakos land.

ok i declined this, but need to make a counter offer. serdoa took out brick's only source of metal. can't really afford for him to be run over. we get a second source of iron in 8 turns, and can build maces with copper, so im thinking iron for 5gpt (same thing, only we can continue to get benefit after 10 turns) + clam. we're getting clam from scooter for rice, but its a nice guarantee if scooter cancels, and thats the only resource brick can offer us (we don't need the dye and would probably hurt him badly to get up the happy). the only downside is if we think we'll build crossbows in the next 8 turns.

this confused me, since we have a unit i've named el cid (the horse archer). but its just brick's great general.

note the stack is still there, he didn't evacuate presets. but everything is not normal.

he's setting a trap, making it look like he's abandoned A7x. but that stack is somewheere in the fog between rpesets and A7x, playing zone control. pretty smart actually. we may have to walk into the trap at presets, make him commit, then invade A7x? hmm.

he upgraded this archer to a crossbow. still no military in the southern too. this pretty much meeans if we take a city over thre we'll have to raze it.

having trouble loading the last picture, but azza also moved the 2 elephants in blink 182, alone with a crossbow, north near living end. I guess he figured he was safe froms erdoa now that he's at war with brick. the mace I had over there to harass him will have to hang back and probably retreat until we can get a larger force from the east.

I logged out, waiting on lewwyn to decide our course. Plako tried to contact me just before I logged out, so i expect another offer for marble when I log back in.

the stack E, SE of presets is just a mace and a cat guarding a worker. hsi mega stack from A7x is in the fog somewhere.

ok, so i feel dumb for not accepting brick's copper deal right away. brick gave away his city to xenu, and is getting free iron from xenu in return.
oh well - I think he would have done it anyway, it was smothered in culture and he couldnt hold it from serdoa anyway. I like they are friends now - maybe xenu will get involved in the war against serdoa too.
brick whipped 6 cities, heh.

anyway, onto our war. we are fully aware azza is setting a trap for us, we made the decision to walk into the trap anyway. we counted 10 cats at least that azza can hit us with next turn. i promoted all non-cat units to C1 to absorb the damage and make sure the cats die. our cats will hopefully absorb a lot of the collateral. next turn 4 maces, an axe, and a HA will join the stack and we'll bombard. anyway im not sure we can take presets, but we want his army to commit to defending it. if he does so, we'll move in on A7x next turn.
as you can see, I also pillaged the stone - he is still building maoi on one of his islands, so that will have a real effect on him smile.
I expect a bloodbath, which is good - kill azza's cats and some of his army, he can't replace it as easily as we can. plus our costs go down, they are strangling us.

where there's a whip theres a way:

galley in route to pick up that mace and cat.

have to commit east or west with our navy next turn.

without reinforcements, this mace has to just hang out. if I move into his territory he gets shredded by the crossbow. but azza will know if moves the xbow north there will be trouble. eventually ill have a stronger force from the east, if the war drags on.

Whether we go east or west with the galley will depend on what he does in those cities I think. I like the idea of razing muse, but forcing him to better defend it could also be useful. I think no mater which way we go two triremes should go south to try and find his galleys, but we're ahead of ourselves there.

Crossing our fingers on the trap springing.

i haven't seen a galley. as far as I know he only has one galley and two triemes anyway.

I do see a galley still hanging out south of his copper/maoi island city.. defending against commodore, I guess. its too far away to be any threat to us.

maio had 4 turns to go before I razed stone, 9 afterwards smile.

edit: those are my thoughts as well. it would be easy to raze 1 or even 2 of the island cities. OTOH, they aren't producing much and aren't relevant to the major battles - razing or even just threatening muse would have a real impact.

More important is denying stone for walls in presets.

That's why they absorb it. They're still eligible as units targetted for collateral, they just don't take any damage.
I have to run.

well I guess Lewwyn knew that! I didn't, but its wonderful news! I jsut thought they would absorb some of the damage (and since you expect most of your cats to die in the assault, who cares).

Much more optimistic about having a decent stack after his assault now smile.
