I think Thrawn benefitted here from the unusual setup in the middle of the map, good scouting and some very good lateral thinking. It was the clustering in the middle that let him take things that fast. I think with a more "normal" city-state distribution he would not have been able to get as far ahead as he did.

This game will likely go on much longer than CMF and TAD would like - neither Ioan or Ljubljana have enough visibility or awareness of the situation in the rest of the world (including with each other) to understand what might be happening elsewhere.

Marcopolo, in answer to your Q in CMF's thread I think that while Archduke and CMF are fully aware of the status of the game and Thrawn's likely victory, as CMF said both Ioan and Ljubljana don't believe they are completely out of it yet. Unless/until they start talking about concessession (and as much as TAD and CMF will find continuing an effort in futility) I think for the time being the game needs to proceed. Just my $0.02.

If there's another lurker out there I need some advice here....two players (TAD, CMF) have outright conceded, one (Ioan76) appears to have conceded but Ljubljana said this:

Wow, does this thing look a lot more over now than it did a turn ago. I'm not ready to concede or anything, nor close to it - come pry your victory from our cold, dead hands, thrawn! - but we'd need several significant and, frankly, pretty implausible diplomatic breaks to retain any kind of a chance at this point.

at the end of his last turn report (Turn 92). My suspicion is that it would be appropriate to ask for concession anyways but would it also be appropriate to advise him that everyone else is offering it? Just need a second opinion to help with this one.

Perhaps the conceding players could be taken over by the AI locked into DOF, turn the endgame into a duel.

Interesting idea though once the AI DoFs expire that goes out the window. I don't think Ljublana lasts that long and I think Archduke might throw his hands up when he sees what's transpired with CMF.

I'll see if any other lurkers pipe up during the overnight and then perhaps ask him for concession in 10-12 hours.

I've read threads and Thrawn won the game when he took out the center CSs before everyone else. This happened due to his rush-civ, forward (Turn 37!) city allowing him to get more units there faster and starting with scout+warrior, which caused him to guess the map. Now usually information isn't that important because you don't play differently but the center CSs makes you. This made scout+warrior the best build in this game.

Just so everyone (players or lurkers) sees this, Ljubljana is not yet aware of TAD's post in the tech thread or of developments in the game in terms of pending concessions or DoFs as he hasn't logged in since those events occurred. It's for this reason and his statements about wanting to see if he can hold out that I haven't asked for concession from him (for better or for worse). That may change once I see his next post(s) today. I apologize if this is dragging things out unnecessarily.

IMO, let him continue and see if he can defend. I can see why these games end early but one thing to consider is with the next age of units, there is no way Thrawn can upgrade all of his archer and still have a positive income and somebody with crossbows in a city with the +10 district bonus should be able to 1-shot his archers. I am still pretty sure Thrawn has this game in the bag with all of his conquest cities but it is good experience for Ljubljana to see if he can defend and if he wants to continue, let him. We all sign up for these games, knowing we have to continue to play if we become an "also played" player. But, I can also see TheArchduke throwing a fit and dropping out if a concession doesn't come soon.
