We're all pretty much n00bs, so you'll be in good company.
Which leads me to a perhaps n00bish build question: Given the success in our guild scrimmage of the combination of Razah the Ritualist and General Morgahn the Paragon (with Razah raising offensive spirits and Morgahn loaded with offensive shouts), might that not be a good combo to incorporate into a GvG build? I have grandiose visions of totally dominating the flag stand with only the Rit, Para, and maybe one other team member, leaving the rest of the team largely free to carry out other objectives. Has that idea been used and discarded? Or should we give it a go?

From the way I understand things, it'll only be a matter of time before spirit attacks are no longer affected by shouts, chants, etc.

Depending on how many skill changes from this weekend (and beyond, whenever they're changing things back), the role of a rit is going to change dramatically. Well, maybe not dramatically, but spirits and related skills have gotten a few changes that are really going to make people rethink them.

Hi guys
Sorry i missed yesterdays scrimmage. I'm at my sister's place and her internet connection is all screwed up. They say it will take a few days to fix so i won't be able to play GW for the time i am here.
I've been checking out the builds on GW wiki and i've tried a few of them out. They seem to work out well but i guess these pretty much antiquated given all the new developments in the game. But i think that it is a good start for people without much experience in creating builds to come up with one that has some sort of synergy.
Have any of tried these builds and if so what do you think of them?

I wasn't here for when you folks were running GvG in the fall/winter, but things haven't been off to a super start this year. Of the 3 GvG days this year, we've always had the same attendence of me, hawk, wyrm, and vort. This worked fine on the first day because we guested 4 TNE people and had a blast. But since we've switched maps and are supposed to be "evaluating" them, we haven't been able to scrounge up enough guests for the last 2 weeks. The Alliance isn't a great source since the few PvPers in it seem to be doing HA runs with their own R3-4 groups. With all the forum drama over the GH, I would hope we could actually put our tours to some good use, but alas. I'd say if we don't get an actual GvG in another two weeks, there isn't much use to touring for GvGer's sake, and we might as well hold a vote then. But I'd rather we get some actual GvGs going.
One question is, is Wed at 9 the best time for GvG for interested guildmates' current schedules? Are there others interested in GvG that just find the particular time unworkable? Is there a better time for getting Fang and his TNE crew over?
Another would be to find other sources of guests or guilds we can guest for. The Basin seems to run similarly casual HA and GvGs on a semi-weekly basis, I will start talking to those people and see if I can get some F-List for PvP.

Yeah, hall touring is nice, but if no one's going to show up it's not worth it. We never had an actual battle on Meditation Isle, only a couple scrimmages last week. That's a shame too, because the hall would probably have worked out quite well with the smite build we were trying to run.
We're on Uncharted now, which is wide open and has a "hidden" trail to the back gate. To put it simply, the smite build won't be as effective there and we're going to need a couple people who can fight off a gank squad from the opposition (which means having a gank squad of our own).
Anyways, we've been using Weds. at 9 since that seemed to be the time with the most availability for everyone, but obviously it's not. We've got several people who are in very different time zones, 9 EST is 3am for Damadmoo and 9am for Altheas Revenge. I have no conflicts with meeting in the afternoon (my time), but I'm a pessimist so I don't have any grand illusions of that working to our favor either.
Well, whatever. If meeting some other time will be better for people then I'll go with it. Perhaps a new topic? The old member meeting times topic hasn't been updated in such a long time that I don't think it's even close to accurate anymore.
Like Fox said, our GvG roster as of now looks like this: Wyrm (me), Fox, Hawk, Vort. Some other people who have expressed interest in the past are now signing off right when it's time to start organizing or will not be on at all so it's not worth listing them.
To be honest, my enthusiasm for this is at an all-time low. If someone else wants to take charge then I'm more than willing to hand over whatever it is I've supposedly been doing.

Guys, I'm sorry, but I'm going to have to stand you up tonight. Illnesses of various sorts have been tearing through our family, and it looks like it's my turn. Sore throat and headache. Ugh. I'm going to try to exterminate the bug with Sleep.
Good luck, if you guys do GvG tonight!

Well, I signed on as Fox was signing off, so that was kind of a bust.
I think it's time for drastic measures. Or, at least, doing something different from what we've been doing since it obviously ain't workin'.
edit: I think until we find a time that will work better Weds. night should be scrapped.

I think KoP is somewhat eager to ditch Flooded, so we should at least have a scrimmage or 2 before he kills it.
Anyways, I don't hold any real expectations of rated GvG (or even unrated) so I'll be online tonight, but I'm not going to sit around in the hall for 2 hours again.

Since we're trying Friday now for GvG it might be a good idea to wait until Sat/Sun to switch halls. I think we're almost done though, if memory serves we've only got 2 left: Wizard's and Solitude. That is, unless people want to try out more halls.
Here's the build I was talking about:
Used by: Need Before Greed [imo]
W/Rt
"Fear Me!"
Steady Stance
Drunken
Desperation
Disrupting Chop
Bull's Strike
Heal Sig
Flesh of My Flesh
W/E
Flail
Rush
Devastating
Crushing
Bull's Strike
Shock
Grasping Earth
Res Sig
N/A
Dash
Reaper's Mark
Malaise
Insidious Parasites
Faintheartedness
Signet of Sorrow
Price of Failure
Res Sig
N/E
Rotting Flesh
Rising Bile
Shadow of Fear
Deathly Swarm
GoLE
Icy Veins
Putrid Explosion
Res Sig
Me/E
Energy Burn
GoLE
Panic
Backfire
Wastrel's Demise
Spirit of Failure
Mind Wrack
Res Sig
E/Rt
Weilder's Boon
Weapon of Warding
Flame Djinn's Haste
Mind Blast
Fireball
Smoldering Embers
Fire Attunement
Mark of Rodgort
Mo/E (42 df bonus)
Heal Party (114 with boon on)
Jamei's Gaze
Words of Comfort
GoLE
Ethereal Light
Healing Touch
Healer's Boon
Dismiss Condition
Mo/A (35 df bonus)
Restore Condition
Spirit Bond
Holy Veil
RoF
Gift of Health
Dark Escape
Mending Touch
Return
The E/Rt acted as flag runner, but like most other runners these days they held off on capping for as long as possible and the runner stayed with the main group. When they had to split to defend an attack, the E/Rt and N/A went off together. I haven't fully figured out what the attributes should/would be, so people will have to use their best judgement for those. I didn't see any skills that were especially hard to find or use, though this build might require a bit more thinking than a spike build or whatnot.
Oh yeah, the skills are listed in the order I was able to write them down so people will have to customize the order to fit their own preferences.
