Isn'T that abit harsh? At least the using of Blake's AI was a huge improvement. That the other things (espionage rant ) did spoil it is our bad luck.
Not to forget that in Civ4 orig Siege Units could kill wink

I don't think that espionage is such a bad thing, just some of the mechanics on how it was implemented were awful. I think the worst aspect was covered in PBEM1 with state religion swapping for peanuts and civic swapping...

It could have been done in a much much much better way though and how the current mechanics made it into the game are a mystery.

I can't recall, did the AI changes come in a patch or were they part of the release? I prefer BTS to Warlords/Vanilla even while acknowledging the anchor features are terribly unbalanced. Worst addition IMO is not having the game end when you launch your spaceship.

IRC there was first the BetterAI-mod (for warlords) and the author of this got invited to work on BtS. His AI made it into release.

I agree on BtS on the whole preferrable to the predecessors. Every now and then I start up a vanilly game and am always surprised to the huge differences of the AI.

Warlords with BetterAI was pretty good IIRC. It was hard, but less tedious to play (darrell is right - end-game "expanded super fun space race" is terrible).

Yes, and I can't wait to look forward to Civ5's concept of "you must drive the spaceship parts from individual cities to your capital." rolleye It reminds me of managing your inventory supply of arrows in Diablo 2, the sort of thing that really should be abstracted.

More on topic, here's another page updating the Pitboss #2 game further. Now up to four parts and almost Turn 100 - probably only another seven or eight parts to go! lol
