[SPOILERS-PBEM15] Mansa Musa of the Ottomans

T38 done

An inconvenient close scouting warrior exactly at the wrong time from T-I cost my quite some time playing the turn and writing this.

Quote:Hi T-I,

heres your save.

What I wanted to say already a few turns ago - Nice food output you have there :-).

Noticed your scouting warrior NW of Morpork (my 2nd city). Morporks borders will pop next turn, so if you continue south you will be expelled next turn by its culture. If you are planning to visit TT and help searching for Jkaen, you will either have to take your chance at the border pop (I do not know exactly in which direction your warrior will be moved) - or take the route north of the mountain chain.
As a side note, it would be nice if you refrain from moving next to the rice, since I will have workers there next turn.

Amusingly my scouting warrior returning home ran into similiar problems a few turns ago (i am sure you noticed him at your second city), intending to go home skimming north of the mountains but returning to take the southern route instead because he ran into your borders there. Perhaps we should talk more ;-) - or even think about a map trade.

I would also like to resume the discussion about OB&Trade Routes soon, because I would be able to start a connection around ~ T45. I will come back to this soon, having to go to work now ...

There is no real danger from this warrior but I do not want to tempt T-I by moving TWO workers in to be stolen. Since farming the rice asap is quite important for morpork, I asked him to stay away - not very polite, but a must in this situation.

Short domestic news :

Masonry in, switched to writing. Morpork grew to 2, working cows & lake now. Ankh completes the worker (currently cottaging S of it), switches to settler. Scouts found nothing interesting.

Screenies will follow.

Quote:Hi Piet,

Thanks for getting in touch - we should definitely talk more, my apologies for being mostly out of contact. Generally, the save's come around in the morning, which means I have very little time to play it and send it on - lately I've taken to waiting until I get home from work before playing the turn, which is what I'll do this evening!

My warrior was hoping to get a sneak peek at the location of your second city, and will now retreat into the confines of Holy Rome once again. It's very disappointing -- the books of Discworld tell me that there should be a river running between Ankh and Morpork, but I couldn't find one... smile

I'm continuing the search for others way off to the west -- I have a scouting warrior and scout that have traversed the mountain range -- one of which will head south, the other of which will head west. So hopefully I'll be able to find TT and Jkaen that way.

Thanks for the compliment about the food output -- unfortunately, it's just about the only thing we have going for us right now...! Hopefully this will improve in time. I'll talk to you some more about the OB & trade routes this evening when I play the turn. The good news is I should have Writing before not too much longer.

All best,
T-I

@Spaceman - You are also right with CoL beeline > not so good. It is close but in my sims early IW and calendar have simply better effects.

simmed to T80

With IW/Calendar early BSP 100% science 208, Hammers 43, Food 121
With CoL early BSP 100% science 195, Hammers 38, Food 125

both sims 8 cities, 10 Workers, 15 Military Units (incl. 5 Warriors), so in a peaceful environment.

Probably can do better than those when micromanaging more - after T60 both were rather sloppy lol. 8 cities are not so much for this time of the game - I should be able to manage 9 or 10.

(If I manage to lose confu, it is not even close :-). If I still need a state religion at T80+, I will think about bulbing Philo.)

So my tech path will stay IW/Calendar-focused.

Had good results with Math > IW > Calendar > Medi > PH > CoL (or Currency > Col, depends on GLH and number of open borders).

City order was :

3rd city - copper city
4th city - horses city
5th city - bananaville
6th city - sugartown
7th city - somewhere near the neutral zone with TT
8th city - at the mountain pigs

Only horses city and bananaville will need a monument, copper city will build a library and the others will have their border pops by artists.

How quickly is the turn being played at the moment?

2 turns every 3 days I would say.

The report from T38 is still due.

Note TIs warrior at my northern border. Also note that Morporks borders will pop in my next turn.

I sent a warrior from Ankh to the PH mine between my cities, just in case. Gold has gone online this turn so I need no military police in Ankh.

Whats a little worrying is if he moves NE to the hill. This would prevent me from improving the rice tile next turn (I do not want to test his honesty by offering two workers to steal) and set my plans back.

After his reply to my message everything should be fine though - I included something about not moving next to the rice - I assume he read it and his "back to holy roman lands" will be NW instead of NE.

Still looking very nice. Definitely #1 in beakers since my culture output is rather small. #1 in production since quite some time. Food output will go up significantly in the next turns. Of course, I will be whipping the settler in Ankh soon, thats when I will fall back again - the way of slavery whip.
