Having a go at it now, hoping to finish the small mission succesfully.

I download the save, fire up DOSBox, enter TFTD and realize it's in.... Italian? *cough*

This should be interesting.

I survey our soldiers, and am pleased to see really good stats. Pling, Ug and Krill stand out as crowd favourites right away. We're researching Fucile Sonico. I really hope that's Sonic Rifle. We also have really good equipment, with Sonic Pulser and Sonic Pistol we should be able to wipe out anything they throw at us.

I sell a bunch of alien stuff for a total of $1.48m, keeping all the Sonic Rifles and one of everything else. This leaves us with $1.77m, and I quickly invest in a Hyperwave Decoder. I hope. Whatever Analizzatore onde Radio means in English.

I wait for the Triton to return home and start preparing for the raid on the small sub that we shot down earlier, hopefully the game will let me start out easy. I cut down a bit on the Med kits, as we barely ever survive any shots without armour. I remove the HJ Cannon and two Gas Cannons in favour of Sonic Pistols that were captured in our last raid. I bring all 21 Sonic Pulsers and another 5 regular ones. It's a day mission, so no extra lighting is required. Before launching the mission, I discreetly mark 5 brave soldiers with a * next to their name, these are selected for front duty due to... exceptional skills. They will be loaded up with tazers, flares and med kits with which to boldly charge the enemy.

Daytime comes and passes... The Triton refuels slooooowly, and this becomes a night mission frown I ditch 5 regular grenades, 3 sonic pulsers, 2 tazers and 2 med kits for 12 chemical flares.

I'll have to upload the mission video tomorrow. Both because the files are too big to finish before I go to bed, and because I need a little more time to recover from the embarrassing result. I did win, but I lost a whooping 6 soldiers due to poor scouting in particular. 5 of them were fodder which were more or less sacrificed as planned, but one good soldier did die due to a very mysterious screwup.

I hope my successor fares better, my apologies for making such a poor debut.

EDIT: All 4 parts of the video have been uploaded to YouTube. Please comment on the tactics as well as the video quality, I'll try to do better next time.

Catwalk,

Any hints about the mission? Type of aliens encountered, size/type of sub? Any good loot captured?

Throw us a few crumbs here. lol

3rd smallest sub, the big one early on. There was only 1 alien inside it and it was pretty wrecked, but there was like 7 outside. All aquatoids. Vision was really bad, and I didn't toss enough flares.

Loot was mediocre, but overall it was a somewhat profitable mission in spite of the casualties.

Profits are good, even with losses. We desperately need cash. With the Transmission Resolver under construction, the next big ticket item is probably another Workshop. An additional Living Quarters can follow, and then we will be able to hire a bunch more engineers so we can actually get some armor built and maybe crank out some stuff for profit as well.

Or we could delay the Workshop/engineers and build another base somewhere. Lots of activity around the north Atlantic and North Sea regions. Next player should check the graphs and see where alien activity is spiking.

Why do you have an Italian copy of TFTD... ?

And who's up next?

Well, it's not a legal one. I guess I'll go check out how much it costs at gog.com.

First part of the mission has been uploaded and added to the report post. I was still doing pretty okay up until that point smile
