WW16: Lurker Thread [SPOILERS]

uberfish Wrote:*meta*

Ok I feel this game has reached a crisis point in terms of playability. It's clear we have far too many posts and people are unable to keep up. I don't think having about 1/3 of the game being essentially inactive makes for an enjoyable game for anyone.

I see a few possible solutions

1 - Find replacement players somehow
2 - The GM kills off a proportional number of scum and town inactive players
3 - Everyone who's hyper active cuts down on their posting for now to make the game easier for those with limited time to follow
4 - Extend deadlines
5 - Abandon the game with no result

Sorry to be so meta, but I think we have to do something to keep the game actually playable and not degenerate into a series of essentially forced policy lynches.

wtf, is this really necessary? there aren't any more lurkers than usual - and I have a feeling molach, azza, arromir, etc. would be lurking this game even if there were 15 starting players instead of 26. I don't like this suggestion at all, let the game play out. Besides weekends are always funky for ww games (look at ww13 day 2, for instance).

NobleHelium Wrote:I really wish RB would get off this "everyone claims" metagame.

the good news - 2 out of 3 players who claimed got lynched anyway <g>. And I was able to avoid a mislynch without claiming, so this seems to suggest proper strategy would is no longer to claim to get out of a lynch... hopefully enough people pick up on that.

Unless the GM intervenes somehow.

I wish I could post in the game thread frown But I am strongly against you making any changes to the game. The game will adjust itself just fine - what the players are forgetting is that this is the largest game we've had so far, so the problems they are talking about are natural. our usual standard for a large game has been 21 players (ww13 and ww15), so basically day 3 in this game is like day 1 in those games. By day 4 or 5 it will seem more like a usual game.

Besides, RB WW in general makes way too few policy lynches. the bobchillingworth lynch in ww13 is the only one I can think of that we have ever made, and even them some of the voters for him actually thought he was scum.

hah, you'll just get night killed immediately again anyway, and I'd probably be lynched right away lol

novice hinting here that he has some kind of immunity to night kills. Not really as subtle, either, despite the "i'm not going to elaborate" bit.

My guess? either:
1. he's vanilla villager or some kind of power role, and wants to trick the wolves so he can live longer (can't blame him for this, I wish I had thought of having serdoa drop a hint like this)
2. he's a wolf looking to get village cred with perceptive villagers, or explain at a later date why he is still alive

my best guess is the first option atm, though. It is possible he has a night kill immunity, but I doubt it - proper play then would to be not to drop any hints at all, since novice doesn't really need to entice wolfs to night kill him, he'll be a legitimate target eventually.

Disagree w/ Uber by the way. If it's such a huge problem threaten policy lynches until morale improves. Offer summary posts from more active players. Try and get folks involved. This GM come and save us business feels really misplaced. crazyeye

agree completely. Don't just threaten, follow through - molach, azza and arromir are all good candidates for a policy lynch.

maybe its just my blinders on, I've suspected uber all game, but I can't help but think he has ulterior motives...

I agree with you, weekends are always a though time. Also I don't think it would be that much of a problem. If players are quiet and don't post, so be it. Don't force them to participate more just because it is some other players preferred playstyle. Also I am not sure if uberfish isn't writing that just to get village cred. I mean, a wolf would never ask for that right? A wolf would be happy that village is so inactive as it makes their life much easier.

I also really don't think any extra kills should happen. It's just like last game except with an extra 3 days beforehand with the larger amount of players around. :P Plus this was supposed to be a low power role game which = not having 5 different vigs to speed it up, so that should have been clear to people signing up.

well I suck as villager this game (besides thestick lynch), maybe its best I died early.

Uber I guess you were acting a tad scummy hoping to avoid another early night kill? Sucks it didn't work. I'm guessing also that scum picked up on the same hint from novice that I did.

Brick - 3 "lurkers" didn't vote today, I'd say there's a good chance you will have to mod kill one of them, maybe 2. so the problem will sort itself out. we're already down to 19, maybe 15 or 16 at the end of night 4 if you end up having to mod-kill, so the game will be fine by day 5.

If at day 6 both novice and mattimeo are alive, that will be really fishy
