You can have a big turn strike, like -1000 gold and nothing to happen, at least Seven told me this.lol

Yeah - the "penalties" for strike is like 1 unit gets disbanded, so it's not like it's the end of the world...

So it's a great deal for a 4800 beaker tech, I agree. But... we don't really NEED education. And you'd think that the price would only go down, as more civs get Education. Heck, we might be able to get Education + gold for Gunpowder and Banking next turn from Nakor.

I mean Universities are nice, but instead of 200h buildings that give 25% science, I'd rather build 200h banks or ~80h grocers. Or even our cheap harbors

Actually all this fire-sale SP-style tech selling has made me wonder if we even need to tech ANYTHING? Just save up gold and buy the techs for 20 cents on the dollar...

Let's offer that deal to Nakor and it probably swings better in our favor. Plus we're not trading with the tech leader, even if it is at a steal. Totally disagree with saying we don't NEED education though - yes, banks and grocers are more pressing right now, but Oxford is a need and very powerful. (Where is Oxford going?)

Maybe you and I should :duel: then? lol

I would vote the Academy city of Yuri's for Oxford.

Oh, good call. Matt Foley is probably the best bet.
And a duel would be fun...

Is it worth putting the palace there (for later Bureaucracy) and the FP somewhere on the mainland or even in like Wayne's World?

You saw the 3t build time in WW for the FP, huh? wink
Bureaucracy the civic we want late game? Considering its benefit is just to the capital i was thinking the choice was between Vassalage, Nationalism, or Enviromentalism.

And to get back to Edu question, for me the debate is not building unis vs banks, its what we could get out of that 1000g and if that would be better as an immediate benefit vs. the later time we start building unis. And with our planned tech path, i think we want to save our gold for getting DR.

Yeah - Bureaucracy is not really something that we need, especially since we're not SPI. At one point for another game I had a big spreadsheet that calculated, given a list of cities and their locations, where the "optimal" FP location(s) were.

But if we're keeping the Palace in Church Lady (and I see no reason not to if we're not going to be in Bureau), then MF or Superfans is probably the place
