Thanks for putting down the explanation civac.
As for the game, I forgot to mention but I also got IW and have two irons in my borders (with the most land that was kinda surprising). One of them is next to my capital on a jungled tile, so that was pre-placed by pindicator. It is the same for everyone else of course. I also realized that getting Guilds should take me somewhere around 25 turns from now, maybe less if my GNP keeps raising. But first Construction in 3. @pindicator Well, Tarkeel got GLH and Colossus. He is on less cities but part of that is because I razed one of his. I'm not sure what the others are doing tbh but Pyramids are around now for quite some time and several players do have Stone. So I guess others do not value them highly? But to be more outspoken: In my opinion I did value the wonders I got more than the other players did value them. Which makes sense as well because one wonder led to the other. SH was helpful for expansion - and being IMP and having a big map I knew getting it would save me tremendous amounts of resources down the line. I've certainly made up for the 120 hammers it cost me. But keep in mind that 3 out of 6 players chose CRE and would not need or target that wonder. Why they did not use the 120 hammers they did NOT spend on it to build a settler and get ahead of me in city-count is a question for them though. What I'm just saying is: I knew one weakness of IMP and when I saw a possibility to get SH early because there was a city-site that would be capable of building it quickly I took it. Now having gotten SH it was only natural to look at religion because I was there already. And even though we had 2 players starting with Myst I was able to get Buddhism. Again, I can't say why those two foregone it. Probably because many worker-techs were needed and valued more highly - and one Myst-civ started with CRE. The other CRE-civs still had not reason to compete there. Leaves Tarkeel who did not go for it, I assume because he wanted GLH instead. And wouldn't you know it, but being on Myst -> Meditation path leads directly to PH. Which given that I wanted to expand quickly (hence why I took IMP) and costs were rising was again a natural fit as I could spend hammers for tech. At that point only Jowy was even in competition for the wonder, as the other players had ignored the religious line. Jowy has btw gotten 3 religions because apparently no one else cares about them. I did get that wonder as well - but everyone else had the same data and could see that costs were rising quickly. Which was kind of obvious from the start with such a map. They had decided to take CRE so they could ignore all these techs - that makes sense but of course also means you won't get Oracle. I mean, your whole plan is to not go there any time soon but to beeline Currency. Which only one player reached before me despite my detour through the religious line... Finally MoM. I put a city through 3 whips in 5 turns, whipped it down from 8 to 3 in order to get it. I did pay quite heavily to be certain to get a wonder that does absolutely nothing till you can start a GA. I did however have Marble already set up because of the earlier Oracle-build. What did the others do? AT wanted to get IW and whip Praets. Ruff somehow crashed his economy despite being only on 9 cities. Jowy followed the religious line like I did, valued getting CoL first (for his Altars, makes sense) but then did or could not follow that up with another tech-push despite whipping Altars quickly in a few cities - I think that just shows that even in combination with ORG and basically succeeding with your game-plan Altars are not good enough - or Jowy did it wrong, what do I know... Lastly, SD I'm not sure either, did he even ever consider going for MoM or remember that it exists? I don't think so. And that leaves Tarkeel which I followed closely and who was just a tad slower than I was - I'd say he did not plan well enough in advance, for example he got Marble only after what I presume was Calendar. Though maybe he was not even competing with me and connecting his Marble was coincidence from settling a city? In any case, looking back, I'd say that for all 3 wonders I had barely any competition and therefore do not feel like I actually did take "all the wonders" from the other players but got what no one else wanted - or at least not enough to really set up plans to get it. I'm not sure if T104 for MoM is even that early, but I can say for certain that I could have gotten it earlier if I would not have gone the religious route. Heck, you could even ignore Currency if you really want it, I've seen several players do that.
I meant my question to be tongue-in-cheek, apologies if it didn't come across that way. You're playing a fantastic game, keep it up!

T108: Jowy settled his city no. 17, I'm still at 16. Mostly because I can't move my settlers faster into position. However on T111 I will be on 20. I also think he might be overzealous right now, I assume because Ruff did not expand for a long time and left land free. Maybe someone will have to do something about that, though I also think that a disparity of 2 or 3 cities will not matter given the total number we will have. Also, there is no way an attack between us will happen, that hill / peak area in which we border each other makes it near impossible to do so without giving it away several turns in advance. I mean you could, but you'd need overwhelming force. Else you might take one city on the other side of the peak area, next to land that is culturally dominated by your opponent... that won't be your city for long.
SD is on 16 cities as well. I think we have established a border with each other that I can agree to. He has left a warrior in my border city, I assume to scout it and see if I move more units over. I'm not sure what he plans to do in the future, his trait-combination requires imo to get an early lead. Maybe he'll pile onto Tarkeel? Piling on? Yeah - with AT. I believe I am not the target of his aggression as a scout of mine came close to his borders on the side towards Tarkeel and found some Praets moving in that direction and a worker building a road. I since lost sight on them but I think chances are that I can go a little lighter on my defensive-stack than anticipated. Though maybe he just intended to settle a city right on Tarkeels border? I guess we will find out soon. Construction comes in next turn, so I will have Catapults available if no one attacks me in the next 3-4 turns. Ruff I'm not sure what he is doing. Expansion has slowed to a crawl, he is losing land on all sides as far as I can tell and I'm not even sure which direction he wants to expand. I've deliberately left the jungled land-bridge between us unsettled on his half even though I could have taken it, because I wanted to send a sign for my peaceful intentions. Not sure if that is even noticed though, my feeling is that most players are quick to notice the slightest aggravation towards them but are blind to peaceful acts. Settling a city slightly sub-optimal to make a more agreeable border for example often is noticed from the other side as "How could he be so dumb to settle the city in that way, xy would have been much better". I'm not certain to what point of my post you are referring, so please let me know as I really want to make sure to avoid any appearance I could be German ![]() As for Ruff, his expansion apparently is towards me. I think I understand why he does it, but keep in mind we are connected by a landbridge which really is not very good land as pindicator forgot to put any hills on them so it is just jungled grassland and coast everywhere. Hard to build any infrastructure at all. These are not great cities and he has MUCH better spots still available (like one with Corn, Hills riverside grasslands...) which are in contention as well. I gave mine towards AT up for that very reason. Apart from these news, Tarkeel did declare war on AT ![]() In domestic news, I should get up to 20 cities next turn (T111). I think my goal of 25 by T115 will not be achievable, though mostly because I did not produce more settlers. I just need more workers first and / or to free the old ones up. But I also need more military still, more boats, forges, a market in the shrine city and a few other things. So I guess 25 cities will have to wait till T120/T125.
It's one of the stereotypes about us Germans that we haven't invented humour yet. You missing pindicator's joke and then apologizing for missing it is almost too perfect.
