PB71: Lurkers dwell in blissful ignorance

I don't know the exact ratio of hammers to gold here, but that can't have done more than break even, can it? The cost included the four galleys as well as all the swords that were deleted.

It's probably still worth it once those units were already built, but...

IIRC this was planned when Superdeath was exclusively Keshiks, but got postponed when a stack of axes appeared a while ago.

E: Also, I believe the only loss was one sword; the other three are on the galleys.

If he only deleted the one sword instead of all four, it's a better trade.

It is definitely some kind of unholy marvel how many unit SD squeezed out of just those three cities. We're looking at, what, 40 keshiks now? Plus that sizable melee stack.

This timing by Pin is going to be brutal for Thoth and might decide game in Krills favor by itself.

It might honestly depend the order the turn is played. If Thoth moves before Pin and invade Yuri he will have a heck of time getting back before Pin takes / razes stuff. Although he might be in trouble anyways as he may either not have construction yet or just have gotten plus he has a melee stack.

Thoth can already see those units from the hill. So he likely pulls back, saving Yuris once more.

AH I missed that in my quick look. Taking another look I'm reminded some of the greenest land on the map is still unclaimed east of Pin.....

So Pin is spending some of his units going east (finally), but also in a hot war with Thoth in the south. Seems like it should have been one or the other, but not both. Although east units could be destined to be border guards vs Krill after.

To be fair, it seems like Pin's economy is in such poor shape he can't even afford to absorb Thoth's cities.

Not sure if there's an easy solution to that he could have taken given how poor his immediate land was. Maybe he should have just beelined the green coast?

I have wondered that multiple times in this thread, but that is in the past at this point. So question is why is he doing what he is currently? If he was going east, why continue building army and go south? If he is serious about invading Thoth why spend forces going east?

The answer is simple: he's playing mega casually and not super seriously, and it's resulting in a ton of questionable choices. Attacking Thoth 15T ago was obviously correct and would have put him in the driver's seat for this game, and he probably knows it. Honestly I think he should and will just plow straight ahead into Thoth now and hope capture gold gets him to Currency, and then he'll be fine. I think he demonstrated the Samurai rush is super effectively honestly, and the iffy results are all about process and follow through.
