That is indeed an interesting topic. I googled a bit and was very surprised to find out that even book titles in the same language are changed, for example US vs. UK:

CHOICE #75 was a list of six Shaman tests, and GUSTARAN would have to pass three of them:

Luck:  Section 2
Fear:  Section 75
Pain:  Section 151
Revulsion:  Section 183
Strength:  Section 220
Dexterity:  Section 335

Fear seemed like a good option. . .then GUSTARAN instantly regretted not putting on that red powder in the CAVE WOMAN's hideout.  He would have to fail in Section 131 instead of passing in Section 155.  The Shaman touched GUSTARAN's head, implanting "terrible and threatening images" into his thoughts.

I just realized you killed off my character quite needlessly. lol

In what world seemed "fear" like a good choice?
From the list it seems very likely that "Luck" and  "Strength" are pure stat checks, "Dexterity" as well. Given GUSTARAN'S impressive stats that would have been an easy pass. Instead you had to opt for the random item check.  neenerneener

I imagine my character would have enjoyed a glorious victory, had you not disappointed the shaman... Then again, this way there was more content, so maybe it was just an elaborate plan after all? hatsoff

Fighting Fantasy heroes have to be courageous to go on these suicidal quests in the first place, so Fear should be no problem to them.  They aren't like the constantly fainting Valancourt from The Mysteries or Udolpho, or those HP Lovecraft characters who go gibbering mad at the sight of a squid head!

You assume I plan these playthroughs?  I barely read the instructions considering the illegal SKILL and LUCK for the early characters.
"I wonder what that even looks like, a robot body with six or seven CatClaw daggers sticking out of it and nothing else, and zooming around at crazy agility speed."
