He held against AT, but we'll see. I definitely want to secure the sea at least.
Switched to a quick Library due to high overflow. Can I get some help on hammer overflow mechanics? These are the things I'm unsure about:
1) Was the max overflow 100% of the current build? So for 50H build it'd be 50H max overflow?
2) Does the rest get converted to gold? Is it 1:1?

Yes, max overflow is equal to the cost of the current build.* So for a ha it's 50 hammers. After that overflow is divided by the modifiers. In this case with a forge it's 50/1.25 = 40 base hammers. Conversion to gold is after this division. Say you put 90 hammers into a ha with 40 hammers already invested. You get the ha, 50 overflow -> 40 base hammers overflow and 40 hammers is converted to 40/1.25 = 32 40 gold.
Edit: Looks like I was wrong.
* Technically, it's the maximum of the build item cost and the cities production per turn.

1) Overflow for a 50h build would 50h max overflow. And then you divide by whatever hammer multiplier you were using. So if you were getting +100% production and ended up with 110/50, then you would have 50h overflow cap, the 10h would be lost (see #2). But then the 50h would be further divided by 2 for 25h overflow.
2) I'm not sure. I think? I honestly just thought it was lost, but I know I've seen other people talk about gold from unit overflow and I never connected those dots before.

Yes the gold overflow was reintroduced with BUG. Basically all hammers after 1) are converted into gold
EDIT The gold overflow is not in RtR last time I checked

In BTS 3.19 excess overflow is lost in almost all cases. In earlier versions excess overflow would be converted into gold. The BUG developers deemed this a bug and 'fixed' it. With integration of BUG into CTH/RTR you now get overflow gold in those mods as well. Tbf, the BUG team is almost certainly right that 3.19 simply screwed up the calculation. Otherwise, there would be no overflow gold in BTS at all. But there are still narrow, difficult-to-set-up edge cases in BTS which grant overflow gold.

Thanks for the overflow help!
Now to the report:
Ugh. I started two Archers in the island cities before Feudalism so they would become Longbows. They didn't. Okay, I whipped the Archers, figured I can just upgrade them next turn.
Now on this turn they transformed into incomplete Crossbowmen ![smoke smoke](https://www.realmsbeyond.net/forums/images/smilies/smoke.gif) I ended up whipping them again, but I'm not happy about it.
We got our Great Prophet, but the next great person will take a while to spawn:
I was thinking about saving the prophet, but not for 17 turns. We'll try to get a Scientist from Zab, then any of Engineer, Spy or Priest from Henry's Joust after.
We chatted with GKC and one of his ideas was to build temples in Henry's Joust to boost up the GPP, so we'll do just that.
Superdeath offered us an alliance (I think). Copper/Iron/Stone/Sheep for Copper/Stone/Sheep. I sent something similar back. We want to have that front secured.
SD might want to attack Tarkeel, but his power is not spiking yet. He could also just be afraid of us. Serdoa's power OTOH is spiking. He's been in war with Ruff for a good few turns now.
Two people have Aesthetics now, I think they just got it this turn. Serdoa is getting Literature next turn. Music GA is out of reach. We will go for Compass and Optics next, to get a free trade route in 16 cities for circumnavigation.

Here's our first shrine. If we are lucky it will spread Confucianism to foreign cities that don't yet have a religion.
I didn't realize a market will boost the shrine gold amount. Been too long since the last time I had a shrine in a PB.
Saving gold for one more turn, then teching Guilds in 3T.

Aw man Serdoa has to rep out ![frown frown](https://www.realmsbeyond.net/forums/images/smilies/frown.gif) It would have been a nice story if we managed the comeback against someone as great as him.

That was fast! Shrine already doing work. Oh and double GG? Seems the war is a legit one.
We declared on Tarkeel to clear two Galleys. We lost the 88.1% battle south of Mud March, but we had back-up for that one. I offered cease fire, and peace treaty after in case he doesn't accept.
Last demos of the Serdoa era. How did we manage to pass him even temporarily after being so much behind? My guess is we had better city development. More workers early, more improved tiles, earlier infra.
Cheap lighthouse and courthouse helps, especially the latter. With city investigation we've seen that at least those few cities only had a free Stele when ours on this side were already looking nice.
Serdoa's replacement will have more potential left in his cities and with financial trait, which is why we need to get conquering. (EDIT: Oh right, MoM too.. guess we should build Taj huh?)

Ruff's cities look ripe for the taking:
He did end the war with Serdoa (now Mr. Cairo).
We get Guilds this turn and Knights will start rolling in. After Optics we will save gold to upgrade the current 20 HA stack.
I asked Cairo for OB since there was a player change. Maybe he'll accept and we can get visibility on the rest of his cities.
I played with Cairo in PB52. He was decent but never really a contender. However I looked at the PB list some time ago and he has wins under his belt. Anyone who has pulled off a PB win is a big threat.
E: Oh right, we made peace with Tarkeel. He killed our injured Trireme. 2 for 2, though the galleys might have had units inside them.
