Nice, that's the exception indeed.

Based on Mjmd's latest screenshot, it looks like Gav might get Rickety's two southern cities pretty soon.

Oof, I had missed Gav only having 5 cities. I don't think it's going to be particularly rough if he lands half of Rickety.

I think these two are directly related.  A different neighbor would have contended SD's land more directly and he would not have gotten so far south.

I want to scream at ljub not to make a concerted chopping effort for Chichén Itzá of all things, but I mustn't, and their dedlurker seems to have convinced themselves as well frown . Fascinating case how they spent so much effort into planning the micro, that they now will take any target however senseless to perform it. Or that at least is the best explanation I have.

I couldn't even tell you which tech unlocks the Chicken, it's usually that un-contested.

I built Chichen Itza in one PB.
Our PB92 and I had nothing better to do. - And this was in a situation, where I was the only player without rifling - and ages from own gunpowder units.

But I think this is a persistent problem for ljub ? A good micro manager, but not that good in the strategic part of the game.
There was the problem, that ljub chopped nearly all forest in settlers and workers and spent to few turns on improvements ?
I'm not sure if this is a Civ5 or Civ6 problem. I played a Civ5 PBEM recently and improvements in Civ5 are terrible.

I think it's a micro problem. At least it was for me when I started playing MP games here. It was too much fun to optimize how to do something that I would forget why I was doing it.

Agreed. Simming is good for on the tactical/micro-level (finding the optimal route to a short-term goal), useful on the operational-level (getting a feel for the game and what you need to build) but pretty useless on the strategic level (where do I need to be).

Yeah this is right. Good fundamentals are a prerequisite to good micro, not an alternative. Micro is mostly about refining your plan, but the plan has to be a good one to begin with.
