Greenwood is ready to build a wooden engine in 3t (possibly 2t?)

And Oberon is pushing out 98 base hammers per turn atm.

Currently leaning towards building a couple of Infantry here to build up enough overflow for a 3t engine here in Oberon while building the Cockpit in Courts of Chaos.  That will complete the same turn as both the regular and the wooden engines.

I suspect Commodore will push out enough Great Artists to push him over the threshold into Culture victory a few turns before I arrive on Planet but we shall see.  smile

In any event, it's been a hell of a lot of fun and it's been a lot of years since I've built a spaceship even in SP.  goodjob

Fired off a 4 man Golden Age and completed a bunch of chops.

I've still got 4 more (inner ring) forests to chop to get down to 3 turns on the engine.

Oberon is pushing out enough hammers to do a 3 turn engine as well:

Ending turn finished off the cockpit leaving just the engines to finish up in 2t.

I don't recall what the flight time is for a 2 engine spaceship but I think Commodore's third city goes legendary a turn or two before the Amber Space Ship Zelazny arrives at Alpha Centauri.

Wonder if I've got time to build Manhatten and drop some nukes? I'm not sure I've ever fired a nuke in Civ 4......

IIRC, 2 engines is 10 turns and one engine is 12 turns. I could be way rusty though.

If you need to act against a legendary culture city, nukes might work...

So after 238 turns played over the last 7 months I finally launched my spaceship after ending turn gave me a popup to launch.

And after 238 turns and hundreds of hours spent planning and playing turns.

I wasn't prepared to have the option to launch and I completely fucked up the trophy screenshot of the launch.

The "Game resumed by Thoth" was a result of me frantically stabbing at my Print Screen button (and missing) as I tried to scroll the map up to Kolvir where the launch took place.

OTOH, I did manage to capture the tail end of the the launch exhaust plume of my wood burning spaceship.

The Amberite SpaceShip Zelazny in all her glory via F8:

Commodore's third city goes legendary in 9 turns.  I've begun Operation Scorched Earth which is targeting his Sushi and Creative Constructions resources in an effort to slow him down by 1 turn.  He's down a dozen workers over the last few turns as a result of some skirmishes.  Not sure how many he's got in reserve to repair damaged tiles but I may be able to force him to divert enough resources that I can slow him down.

Manhatten project due in 4t.

I've only got visibility on two of Commodore's 3 cultural cities.   I should be able to arrange some celebratory fireworks in both Legendary cities.

I don't think I can nuke Commodore in time to stop the culture victory, but hey, who doesn't like nuking cities?   party   Problem is that I can't nuke his 3rd city unless I can see it on the map.....and Satellites didn't reveal cities just the underlying terrain.   If I could nuke it a couple of times I would hopefully destroy enough infrastructure to delay Legendary by a turn or two.

I may be able to delay his third cultural city if I can find it and nuke it in time or I may be able to slow things down by keeping Sid's Sushi and Creative Constructions resources pillaged.  I don't know how much slack Commodore has in his timetable for his third city.   It's going to be close either way I think.  smile

Thanks!   It's not often we actually see a launch (or even a victory condition) in these games.   I'm well pleased to have managed a full spaceship launch.  party
