[PB81] Lurkers from the Deep

I could have burned Celsus if Nauf had either A) attacked elsewhere or B) waited 1 turn like I wanted. Your army couldnt' have reached in time. Had engineering finishing so couldn't tell.

But this game was over when Nauf torpedoed me. Have to read up on that later, but game wasn't really a game after that.

We though we might end up losing Celsus and were ok with it as you would not be able to make further gains snd it would have costed so many units for your alliance. But still was nice to get that peace from you and eat you one by one instead of simultaneously

Hey Tarkeel, I know we (I) gave you a bunch of grief over the map but I wanted to thank you again for making it for us; that is sincerely appreciated.

I'd love to hear your post mortem on what went as expected / against expectation, and what lessons you learned from this game?

Love the concept of beginners/greener players on one, and vets on the other.

Dont like narrow land bridge(s!???) being the difference between 2 sides. Need more distance between capitals to make rushing not the one right choice. Preferably dont have copper/horses immediately settle-able for insta hook. Yes i am saying this from this games experience. Lil salty. But looking at it even AFTER i was Killed, the 1 tile land bridge was really... dumb. The distance i had to go to get ACCESS to my horses. Dumb.

Didnt look too hard at other starts on my/other continent. Dont know if mine was actually "the better" start on the vet island.

Thanks for making maps. I hope to start next to Mjmd again in the future. I promise i wont hold a grudge. smile

Tarkeel you have made a lot of good maps and you are still the best!

I also like the idea of separate continents as it meant neighbor luck wasn't as much as factor. But the number of neighbor issues were bad here. I didn't like the dual nature of the vet island. If it was going to be a dual set up both players being north south would have been preferred and two land bridges. In general I would prefer not duals though. The less experienced island was worse as Dreylin (I think) pointed out that basically the middle players had two neighbors, but the end players only really had one. As someone who has been criticized on maps myself now I have a much greater deal of leniency for things like missing strategic instant hook ups (as I myself have missed this as you know), but I do like having at least two players as neighbors on maps at a minimum.

I did like the astro lands. Seemed like exactly the right amount and lushness. Maybe the one next to Nauf TBS should have been split into islands like the other one was, but that is a nitpick.

@SD heh we've worked together before, like twice (I think) in fact. Again, it wasn't personal, it was just I was put in a dual so to avoid a later dual I went with an early chance to win the dual. Whomever was next to me the decision would have been the same. The fact you were Byzantium was definite encouragement fro sooner rather than later.
