HURH!
What is it good for?
Entertaining Lurkers!
(say it again) Good time to be a lurker, then. No only this, and OT4E eating Joey, but Naufrager just kicked things off against AIT, capping a city.
I'm not sure if there is any good civ being played in this game but it is hella entertaining to lurk.

Hate to disappoint you, gang, but Gavagai logged in after Plako, so that must be a peace offer. If they made peace, I'm getting out as quickly as I can. I'll offer white first, but I'm happy suing for peace if I need to. The rule is no gifting cities, but does that apply to returning cities in peace treaties? I'd gladly return Tikawanu for peace with Plako. Gavagai has proven an unreliable ally, I won't be joining anymore dogpiles trusting his resolve. Hopefully Plako's price for peace was too much and we can get out first.

Okay, slight modification. I'm happier with the stick than the carrot. How about white peace, or else I burn your horse city to the ground? I could use the money to fund the last turn to crossbows/trebs. My argument would have felt better if I'd won they galley battle. As charismatic, I'll always take that 33% shot as winning nets 4XP and thus Nav1. Alas, he's got 0.1/2 left. Logistics of reinforcement are tricky.
Gavagai made a mistake. He's embittered me and Plako won't exactly love him either. Better to be friends with one than enemies with two. But take a million Gavagais in a million years and you'll never convince a single one that it was a bad move.

Of course I'm guilty of some pretty motivated reasoning here. But I still think it was a bad call on Gav's part, you always want to be assured of being the 2 vs a 1. War chariots are obsoleting, too.

I thought Bhall was more on the evil side but I don't have any evidence beyond him being the Orcs' patron. Don't see anything else I'd object to.
Speaking from the perspective of 'played FFH, didn't read the lore', of course. If you want an expert, PM RefSteel or Bobchillingworth.

Right then, we've worn out our welcome. Three horse archers in Olly can hit along with this ugly stack. Two chariots died for this. They paid for our crossbows, flights of angels sing thee to thy rest sweet children.
Next turn, this stack is pushing back to the woods, leaving the city of Tiwanaku unoccupied. Let's get out of this with zero further bloodshed please Plako.
I...actually think I could beat Plako right now mano-e-mano. My power is awesome, I'm two turns from Machinery (aw yiss GNP), and my UU is king in the era. But I trust Gavagai not at all, he's a single machination from stabbing me, and the other locals aren't safe. So let's preserve these pretty demos. No hard feelings Plako?

Your city, sir. Let's put this unpleasantness aside, shall we?
I'm not 100% sure, but I think Plako moving back his horse archers means he's willing to bury the hatchet.
Assuming that's the end of things for me and Inca and we avoid getting splatted by TBS (I think he hits Superdeath) or Pindicator (he's checked out)...
TO THE VOYAGE OF LIFE
The long pole of the Great Scientist plan is the capital's GPP. Currently, it's looking at taking twenty turns. The forge finishes first in the current plan, to be followed slowly with a forum. I don't want to pee in the pool with engineer or merchant points, so a forum first off the top of my head would shave off four turns. Wanker's Corner already owns a forum and is 9t from a Great Scientist now, so I'll need to shut it off. Once I resume (cracking 200GPP the same turn as the capital), the Corner can take twelve turns to make a pure GSci, six turns with a mild mix.
Total time 22 turns: 16 Capital + 6 Wanker's Corner (84% GSci).
Briefly, I could accept a lower odds shot in the capital with engineer and merchants, but gain more time on the golden age person in Wanker's Corner at 400GPP. That would be:
Total time 23 turns: 9 Wanker's Corner + 14 Capital (65% GSci), plus only 13 turns to golden age, but minus three-four population in Academy capital.
Research, quick estimate: 1t more Machinery, 2t Calendar, 2t Code of Laws, 2t Compass, 2t Alphabet, 3t Optics, BULB. Right now building no wealth I'm able to research 1t for 2t of saving. I'm going to do more growing but I'm out of cottages being made new, so new commerce growth is on coasts, scientists, and a few hamlet upgrades. Maybe open borders/a Viking raid on Superdeath could net a few more coins. Let's optimistically assume halfway through the progress I can drop to a 1:1 ratio of research. I'm going to ignore the elephant in the room that I might need elephants (Construction and HBR). Wealth can of course drastically improve research speed, but I'm going to need galleys (for galleons), triremes (caravels), settlers, Praetorians, crossbows, and work boats. Not to mention forges and barracks and trebuchets for the home game. I don't need to get wealth addicted here. So...
Total time 30 turns: 12 research, 18 gold. I want to improve this, but galleon upgrades aren't free.
Cool. This all says to me that I can maintain purity of my pools. Turn 140 won't have me be the first to Astronomy, but unless TBS decides to ignore knights for his tasty Superdeath neighbor I think I can be the first in this area. Then it's conquer the new world, young man.
Until TBS brings us home.
