Yeah, that was the goal distant hope. But I'm not sure if I could have pulled it off in time even if I'd been able to see the island sooner. I did sink a couple turns into a Sword and Pottery when the Greeks and Russians declared war, thinking that contributing to the offensive would pay off. Should have been paying more attention to the demographics. But then the detour was only 1 or 2 turns so fixing that alone would not have been sufficient. Basically needed Greece to stay in the fight an extra couple turns. Like I said earlier, I can't really fault them for cutting their losses. Though I do wonder if post-occupation Rome will snowball away with the game.

I'll try to put together a post-mortem but likely won't get to it until the weekend. I've got some thoughts on mistakes I made up in the lurker thread, though.
