Looking at it now, it's going to take roughly 20 more turns, thanks to the hack that is drafting. Protective muskets are a great bang for the drafting buck, so I do count it. The Great Lighthouse alone has already roughly made the conquest break-even, assuming the wealth 1c=1h calculus. Except, war weariness has been a pain and forced some disruptions. So...call it 10t more?

Last place to take out. I don't relish bordering Rusten, but it's a GLH/merch/rep seaside city, so it's profitable every second it exists. Might even draft a little out of it, who knows.

The final battle was decently simple, the crossbow won at 34%...

...and there was a string of wins, then a couple 60% losses. I had a pair of longbows as emergency backups, fortunately, so I was able to bag the city and at last we're rid of this Superdeath war weariness. Thank goodness, now we need to prepare for Gavagai.

I can draft, and pump cuirassier, but what has me most worried is navy. Police State means that Gavagai can make a hell of a lot of frigates (and soon Ships of the Line with his MilSci UU beeline). Once I finish the Heroic Epic, dear old Welly is going to be doing nothing but pump out privateers for the nonce.

I was roughly 3t off from i "think" holding you at the sea. caught me before the naval production really kicked in. Thanks for the quick exit!
"Superdeath seems to have acquired a rep for aggression somehow. [Image: noidea.gif] In this game that's going to help us because he's going to go to the negotiating table with twitchy eyes and slightly too wide a grin and terrify the neighbors into favorable border agreements, one-sided tech deals and staggered NAPs."

Yup, that's why I had the timing I did, Civilization is a game of "one turn too late" very often. Glad to make it a merciful death, appreciate the PYFT there even at the end.

Hoo boy.

I'm not looking forward to this. I dunno when "draft my brains out" cometh, but I suspect it's soon. No help at sea, where my decent privateer stack is going to smack into his invasion fleet like it's October 21, 1805

Is there a "harsh North Sea storms" event?

I was thinking more along the lines of "bunch of pirates hit troop transports to prevent a landing".
