Perhaps a replacement player could be recruited, from either PBEM17, or again I am willing to step in. I spoilered myself on everyone's threads when it looked like Kaiser would be the turn player, so I know all y'all's secret plans and early speculations, and my Korean time zone might be awkward (there might be possibilities using the Switch's new cross platform feature, though!).

I am fine with both, as long as whoever of you does not play lurks me

CMF, having you play on Korea time from the start of the game shouldn't be awkward since you'd be playing that TZ from the start. The issue in PBEM 17 came up because you swapped in for someone playing on European time. If the game is still going on when you move back to the states I don't think that'd be an issue. IIRC you'd be in the same time zone as Woden. Do you see any issues with playing after Woden in the turn cycle once you're back in the states?

I would love if you joined, CMF.
I don't think we can compare this game to PBEM 17. A 7 player PBEM is obviously not going to have a good turnpace. 5 is way more reasonable. I think turn pace will be fine.
Anyway, I really don't think anyone should start a game already feeling it is not going to be fun. If you change your mind, TheArchduke, you may take my pick and leave me with Canada. This way Cornflakes doesn't need to alter the map to account for new start biases and we keep a level playing field for the other players (I feel that some of the remaining choices would be a bit unfair to some of the players that already picked). I extend the same offer to CMF, if he chooses to sub.

Ok I will proceed with finalizing the map. Goal is end of day tomorrow. Confirm player, civ selection, and turn order by about 24 hours from now.

I attempted to load the map in a single player game. Problem is the edited map is not loading when I start a game. Instead, the un-edited version is loading. The map is saving because I can load it again in worldbuilder, but it won't load in a game. Also the map name isn't displaying, instead it keeps the "untitled map" name.
I tested editing a different map. Same result. I tested creating a new empty map, and it worked and loaded into a game. Unfortunately I think this means I'll have to start from scratch

Hah! My old workaround still works ![smile smile](https://www.realmsbeyond.net/forums/images/smilies/smile2.gif) Just had to hijack the Gathering Storm version of the Earth map file (EarthStandard_XP2.Civ6Map). Back to work

Something is off in the setup. I ran into this previously and for the life of me can't remember what was off. Either you don't have enough player or city state locations set on the map (compared to player editor list) or the map name and mod name are not the same. You could also try generating a new map id under the "General" tab on the map detail and text menu. Or something is off under the Player Editor in Advanced mode. But like I said, I can't remember what caused it.
Regardless, it looks like you found a work around.

I'm happy to stick with Canada to keep things as simple and fair as possible - it's not like Sweden is a whole lot better (well, actually I DO think Sweden is better 'coz you can attack city-states and the UU is better), and I'd like to stick with the Archduke's choices as much as possible. Just think of me as the new Duke (quite a promotion for a lowly knight like myself!).

So CMF replaces Archduke, does this change the player order in any way?
Can anybody with an overview create a new list for Cornflakes?
