So one explanation I've been given in asking around is that the mod is supposed to give you the number of cities you can see up until you get EP on the person, then it jumps to total number.  Which would kind of explain this, except not because in this screenshot:

We've got Mr. Cairo showing as 3 cities.  I have vision on ZERO of his cities.  I don't even have vision on his borders yet, I don't think.  Or perhaps this is the turn my work boat first found him.  But regardless, zero cities seen.

BUG tells you which of your cities your tiles belong to. I wonder if there's something about the culture on the tiles your workboat saw?

Turn 118 in the Suicide Charge of the Shire

We're supposed to declare war on the neighbor with twice our cities and twice our power, right?

Because that's what I just did. Killed 1 archer, 1 spear, and 7 axes at cost of 4 chariots and 2 horse archers.

Mr. Cairo just got leveled by User / the Ottomans; he's lost 3 cities in the last 2 turns. The city he took from me now stands empty. Maybe I'll get to take it back?

But one war at a time: Construction finished this last turn so I started catapults and war elephants and next turn we whip everywhere. Then do it again.

More interesting developments! Naufrager sent the following IM to Amicalola and myself today:

naufragar Wrote:Hi Pind and Amica,

We seem to have come to blows. frown I ask that while we’re fighting the two of you keep the turn split between the two of you that you had last turn, at least when moving units relevant to our war. Amica, you moved units after Pind, using the knowledge that he had attacked me. It would be unfair for you now to precipitate Pind’s other attacks. What I’m referring to should be clear in-game, but if not, I’ll write a more explicit post in my thread if you want a lurker-referee to look it over.

I don’t mean to cause unnecessary hassle, and I trust both of you. If y’all need to log in at various times to manage your empires, I have no qualms. I just ask that when moving units on the front, you don’t flip halves of the timer between yourselves for an advantage.

I apologize if this comes off as imperious. I’ll spell out exactly what I’m referring to in my thread in just a minute. (Actually, the report might take a few minutes.)

Now one thing I had been wondering about was just how hot the war between Amicalola and Naufrager was. Seems like it is pretty hot. This gives me confidence to continue pushing.

Also, I did a poor job of reporting recently, but i have been communicating with Amicalola on the timing of my attack using gold. I had been giving him a countdown over the last few turns, and his troops have been witnessing the buildup of my forces, so it stands to reason he has timed his attacks well.

Turn 119 in the OH SHIT WE'RE SCREWED

I think this says it all:

Retreated back to the capital and whipped everywhere.

Pretty obvious this was being built up as an invasion force with it being so nearby, so good that I attacked first and at least caught him on the back foot initially. This also tells me Amicalola wasn't really pressuring him that much after all. Sigh.

So I'm thinking ... if this is starting to look hopeless then I'm going to backstab Amicalola. Because lessons need to be taught.

Edit: I'd much rather play in an attempt to win, but if there is no chance that I can recapture what I lost before then I would rather punish the person who kept me from being able to defend it in the first place.

Turn 120 in the Revenge Plotting of the Shire

Full retreat

Is amicalola even doing anything or is this just a fake war on his part? Well I'll give him a real war soon. I know exactly how I'm going to play this. We're going to fall back, fall back, fall back and then when I get to Underhill with all these armies I'm whipping then I'm going to Zulu his ass and see just how far I can burn.

Backstab me and cripple my game? Two can play at that.

Oh, and another surprise we're hatching up:

Turn 121 in Naufrager is playing this too cautiously

Naufrager burned both cities that I evacuated

I can understand burning ProudFEET but he really should have taken the other city up north. He's treating me like I'm an equal rival when he has twice the power and twice the cities. Really he should only be burning cities when there's a strategic reason to; everything needs to be kept by him in order to increase his odds of winning. So actually I take htat back: he should have taken ProudFEET and made me commit troops to retaking it.

This is also making my plan more difficult. Amicalola has a chariot on the hills outside Baggins and can spot all my buildup. If I play this too fishy he's going to assume something is up. I could evacuate Baggins entirely and assume naufrager takes it then races forward with his horchers to kill Amicalola's chariot, but I think naufrager would be too advance, fearing a trap. And like naufrager I can't delay too long either, as I see Amicalola is starting to build war elephants.

Peace treaty with Old Harry Mr. Cairo is due up in 2 turns. I'll have my 4-move galleys loaded next turn.
