Apparently, that was the name given to the German invasion of Denmark and Norway in early WW2. Would be more recognisable to a Norwegian.

as a german.... also didn't hear about that name.
I saw a few fortifications in denmark with short info but they probably didn't use this expression (or maybe I just forgot) good luck with your assault, hopefully you got communications right with SD, always fun in a no-diplo game
As civac said, Weserübung was the codename for the axis invasion and occupation of Denmark and Norway, and thus fitting for our German invasion of Scandinavia. For some strange reason, this is taught in Norwegian schools.
SD has been mirroring our diplo back, but we're unsure if he's ready to go. Trying to communicate a countdown without currency is fun; we started 5 turns back and sending war with 5 resources, then 4 the turn after, and so on.
Turn 105 (250 BC)
We provoked a serious round of whips from Plemo. Aarhus was evacuated, Oslo added a few spears and axes, and Lødøse got the magic spear that turned this into a long-shot. Vodka says we have a low-20s shot at burning Lødøse this turn, and part of me wants to go full Superdeath and try that. If this was just the two shock chariots against a single spear, I'd sacrifice one to see what we got, but this seems too much of a gamble. Instead we pull the chariots back, while the axe stack ignore Aarhus for now and advance on Oslo. Rococo's archer moves up to keep up the pressure on Aarhus. We also had a discussion about what to do with the other shark in the water, Commodore. I floated the idea of sending him our fish for his war against Bing. The idea behind that would be, Commodore is likely to eat us at some point this game, and I'd rather it be later. The best way for us to survive longer here is to have Commodore occupied elsewhere while we research elephants and then try to set up a Chemistry bulb. In the end we didn't send anything. Bing might not be as edible as we'd thought, as he's the third Currency holder and actually has an economy. Even if Comm goes that way first, it might be best to let him guess our intentions, or at the very least ask.
Turn 106 (225 BC)
Superdeath probably scared Plemo some by holding the turn so long, but then proceded to play a double turn and not declare this turn either. He did send some diplo though: His war with plemo + copper/horse/stone, for our copper/horse/iron, and our cities of Carcassonne, KingdomBuilder, Dominion, Rococo, TicketToRide and Agricola. It could mean "hang in there for a few and I will join", or it could just be smoke. Plemo has managed to cover Oslo pretty well: Our stack won't manage to crack that, so the only question is whether to wait for SD to do something or sneak back. The answer gives itself really. Enforced peace will even let us improve some coastal tiles safely.
Do you wish you took Aarhaus?
Erebus in the Balance - a FFH Modmod based around balancing and polishing FFH for streamlined competitive play.
We asked from 40 gold and peace treaty from Plemo. If he does not accept we will have to burn down the city to maintain credibility.*
* A policy which has never backfired at all. Edit: Didn't read the question properly. Not really. Aarhus is irrelevant. Even Oslo is not very significant. The city that mattered in the whole debacle was the northern one, Lodose.
Turn 107 (200 BC)
Plemo countered our threat with an offer of plan white-peace, which we decide is worth the hit to our reputation as extortionists. We now have ten turns to safely improve the coastal tiles, which has high priority. We also resettled Augustus E of where we'd planned (and NE of it's original location) in order to claim the ivory ASAP. One of the reasons we wanted it on the coast was so our boats could stage to hit Ribe on the island safely, but we've mapped out another very bad filler that can do the job: Tortuga. Might even just be a fort on the tile N of it to do the trick. Workers will scurry about to hook the ivory and horses at Augustus, cottage the last two riverside tiles at Catan, and hook sheep and chop coastal forest at Rococo. Agricola is being set up to generate some emergency cash by overflow-cascade into whipped scout and four chops so our workers are being kept busy; two more will be joining from Kingdom Builder soon. The south is progressing nicely, Carcassonne is ready to grow once the whip-unhappy wears off and has been getting a library chopped out. Ticket to Ride just whipped a library to see if it can contest some of those lakes.
Turn 108 (175 BC)
The worker swarm will descend on the ivory next turn to connect it, allowing almost all the cities in view to grow into what would have been unhappiness. Kingdom Builder and Azul needs to finish their workers before growing, while Agricola and Carcassonne (outside picture) gets to grow while building a worker, and Catan and Dominion also grows. We've also started cottaging the southern jungle, so our economy is on the way to recovery, but still some way to go.
Turn 108 (150 BC)
Off in the distance, Miguelito built the Apostolic Palace, based on Christianity being the religion and him bulbing that earlier. After the other wonders taking ages to be built it's good that someone took that off the table. Meanwhile we have a wonder plan of our own: Save the economy. That will be five forest chopped into a whipped scout in Rococo, with some whip overflow to boot. We also manage to improve all the high-value coastal tiles before enforced peace with plemo runs out. |
