[SPOILERS] TT tries yet again to not be terrible

One worry I have (which is really there regardless of which we rush) is that maybe this will paint a big target on us for Jowy and his Ballista Phants.

We are going to have to build military soon, which probably means that we lose out on using our production hub for building wealth to boost our research.

If we go Calendar, I think we need to head straight to Music afterwards. We may well need that Golden Age as at least an insurance policy

thats fine with me. I was actually thinking the game is playing out for us to go after a culture victory lol and music plays into that (assuming we bulb philosophy with our first scientist).

edit: elephants still have problems with spears smile. spears are also useful against the only strategic resource that 2metra has last time I checked wink. anyway with tech trading on I think we'll have maces sooner than normal, so I wouldnt worry too much, just build spears (as you are).

I don't think tech trading gives anyone much hope of a culture victory, or that 3 have 3 cities good enough for it but we can see

Engineer rushed MoM this turn - gonna be really pissed if we lose on a coinflip.

I'm thinking that they must be trying to build it as I was shocked at how many people they hadn't traded it to!

Made proposals to sell it to Ninja & Azza for ~120g

AND WE FINALLY MET COMMODORE! And I have offered him Aesthetics + Polytheism for Metal Casting

Lets see what we can get out of this!

FYI to lurkers, our 50% rate here is due to running wealth in success kid, our biggest hammer city. w/o wealth we're break even at around 20% (still better than before).

ok, a few things here.
First, our tech situation has much improved relative to our enemies. It shows too, we aren't at the bottom of the scoreboard anymore smile.
2nd, how long has cornflakes had lit? I think we should still make a run of it, but our chances of landing TGL don't look good with the scoreboard leader with IND. still failgold is good.
obviously we would prefer it in the capital, but maybe we should build in success kid? increased our chances a lot, at least we have a library there and it will be good for denial if nothing else. and with representation those scientists will still be good for something, and we can afford a uni here later with all the hammers success kid has. better in a capital of course but I don't think we have any chance in our capital of landing it frown.

Even if we lose it, I think MOM is better so I'm happy with that smile.

your location of scumbag steve makes me cringe a bit :/. 1 north would basically be the same city, but exchange 3 normal lake tiles with 3 lake tiles that can be lighthoused. oh well, too late now smile.

I like that you're not slowing down on expansion, but we need more courthouses, and markets where we can build them. and forges of course. lol. we're in that phase of the game where there are too many buildings that need to be built, lets take advantage of OR and the whip to get them in place!

after Lit: I was thinking engineering. very unusual advice for me, but this is a strange game. we desperately need happy, and we have stone to build notre dame quickly in success kid! (for lurkers, we should have sugar in 5-6 turns, which will be our very first happy resource - we really don't have any early happies anywhere, yuck). also, I think everyone will go for civil service so it should be easy to trade engineering for civil service smile. and whatever else we need to. Also the pikes will be useful for us not having to worry about elephants smile.

To financy a quickish engineering I was thinking we should sell aesthetics to 2 metra and jowy. (maybe offer 200g to each of them, and probably accept if they counter offer for a little less - we can always sell them lit later).

thats ok,, grow into unhappy and get some buildings built here after the spear. whip off 3 pop or so to get forge, courthouse, and market built, then regrow quickly smile. and probably more cottages, less farms.

Ok to answer a few things.

I sold Polytheism for some gold to Commodore then traded Mono & Aesthetics for Metal Casting with him.

Cornflakes only got Literature this turn.

I'm wanting to go and build wealth almost universally and see if we can quickly power through to Music - I think we could be in a race and that Artist would be wonderful to get if possible.

After that, I think Machinery is a good bet, we will need to look at military options as I think right now we present too nice a target to Jowy for him to look elsewhere with his Ballistaphants.

My only other suggestion might be Feudalism and get some Longbows stacked up with walls & Cats which should make us pretty hard to crack. Especially as we could move into Police State if needed for fast military build up if desperately needed.

I want Philosoraptor high on food because it is a border city and I want to be able to whip often if need be. If/when it becomes more backline, then maybe swap over to cottages then.

I would like us to look at buildings too, but I think military is a more pressing concern.

Music is going to take too long - even at 100% (and we need more gold to manage that).

I'm going down to 0% and going to turn off wealth in Success Kid and build a forge instead.

im not sold on machinery or feudalism.

pikes would solve our problems as well as longbows or xbows atm, and allow for better mobility (+1 road movement). plus you can use it to trade for civil serice and machinery.

more importantly, I don't want to be stuck at +1 happy until we conquer.. what other option do we really have for happy? only other option is going back to HR, and since most of our economy is specialists that doesnt seem like a good option.

Bigger, I'm not sure there's a better option out there. I can't make happy resources appear from thin air and we need some good trade bait for the good stuff.

And we can't research Engineering without Machinery I believe...
