Well the only good thing is my vote didn't matter becaus ef Roland's switch. Even if I had gotten the switch in to Zakalwe, Roland would have put F&I over the top. I can take comfort that my failed actions were meaningless...
“The wind went mute and the trees in the forest stood still. It was time for the last tale.”
I am also stunned that Roland was not happy with letting novice decide. Anyway, maybe he'll explain himself and maybe even before we get Sarelns info on if we lynched a wolf or a villager.
I find it amusing that we had a real lull in the talking and then we have one of the most active last minutes of a Day ever.
The good thing about this lynch is if F&I is a wolf then we can go ahead and crown Roland innocent. If not well its up in the air. We could lynch him for it. I'm always up for lynching Roland on principle.

Maybe... when I saw no traction on the novice vote, I set my sights on zakalwe, but I wanted to shake it up and see what fell out. I believed F&I to be innocent so I voted for him. Then novice made a move and I wanted to put pressure on that, so I followed. But all the while I was planning on switching back to Zakalwe at the last second. Roland just took the whole thing out of my hands.

I was late to the party. I went to bed with the idea that I would switch to fire&ice towards the end. Of course, I overslept on my alarm and had to drop in here last-minute. Hit post before catching up on the thread... Guess I screwed everything up? What the hell happened at the end?

You broke a 3 way tie of 4 votes to lynch Fire & Ice instead of scooter with Novice's tiebreak. Still writing. 2 victims is so much more work than 1

Crap. I'm still catching up in the reading. :neenernee
End of Day 5
---- A lynch after careful deliberation, the weighing of evidence, and the taking of statements is how it's supposed to be done. That's how it's written in the mayor's big book of protocol, and that's how the rules were designed for an ideal world with calm, levelheaded villagers not faced with certain peril and death if they should choose poorly. Naturally, in any real werewolf encounter, the records show a different thing altogether. Accusations and votes fly with the slightest provocation, old vendettas are brought to bear, and the whole thing descends into a sort of general chaos. This suits most wolves just fine, though there are a rare few which prefer the orderly method of lynching - scholars agree this is the most dangerous kind of wolf.
Returning to the case of Kalocly, the mayor's extensive notes on day 5 have helped us immensely in reconstructing the events of that day. A last minute swing towards the smith nearly bore fruit, but before the vote could be closed, the bowyer rushed into the town square shouting a new vote, he looked out of breath, and it was all he could do to croak out the name of the village idiot before collapsing to catch his breath. The mayor was annoyed at this last minute voting schenanigan, but noted it down all the same. He then also noticed that two villagers had not yet voted. The Menhir Delivery Man (not all villages have such a profession, but those that do are considered some of the most cultured and advanced of small villages), and the village idiot. This being the second offense for the Menhir Delivery Man, a double hanging was slated.
It was at about this time that the carpenter bursts out of his shop and goes to change his vote. He is sternly reminded that the voting period has closed and all votes are now final. If he really dislikes the bard's singing that much, he can come back tomorrow and try again.
The village idiot is first up onto the block, his hanging goes as smoothly as such things can. He says not a word as the noose is tightened, nor as the trapdoor gives way. There's not much to do but wait for him to stop twitching, then cut him down and getting more rope for the Menhir Delivery Man. The village idiot appears to have been human, and the village puts his body aside for the time being as they go about the work of lynching the Menhir Delivery Man. This is made troublesome by his apparent bulk, but at least he does not resist. After 20 minutes of various attempts, the village finally gets Bruindane up onto the gallows. The mayor asks him if he has any last words, which are recorded thusly: "You're all in on it, every one of you! This isn't wolves versus villagesr, this is conspiracy versus the rubes! I'm the last one left and you're hanging me today, hope you're proud of yourselves...".
There is a minor notation on the page next to this quote, in the mayor's handwriting: "rantings of a madman, there is no conspiracy here, only werewolves".
With that, it is recorded that Bruindane was hanged, and as he died, he immediately began to shrink, and grow fur and fangs. The village had gotten lucky, and no-one knew what had possessed Bruindane to get himself killed without any fuss from the village.
