Our spymaster's clues are making me feel dumb & unlettered :'(

Okay, so a mire is like a swamp, and a "poix" is presumably like a plague. Unfortunately none of the words on the board would seem to have any relevance to diseases of the bog. The spelling appears antiquated, so I guess Shakespeare might work? And then maybe Germany? Is it some disease Europeans spread to the Aztecs? Does it give you skin Tags or something? I'm just stumped here.

I have a recollection it might have something to do with cooking, but that's about all I have. Again, definitely a French word. I lean towards Carrot + Beat, in the hope that it's actually a form of mashed carrot. I think if it were chocolate-related, we'd maybe have an easier clue.

Oh well, we need 4 with only 3 attempts available, so perhaps we should guess something from a previous clue first, if we have any good ideas left. We definitely have some overlap between clues, not that it necessarily helps us.
Previous clues:
Genevieve, 3 - we were thinking about Comic
Parade, 4 (Conductor, Square, Flute) - we were thinking about Beat and Plane.

Any new ideas for any of the clues? If not, I suggest we start with Beat.

If it's a food item and we land beat, let's just do Carrot next. Chocolate might be the assassin, Carrot + Chocolate would obviously be "Cake 2".

BEAT is GRAY

Could it be PRINCESS anyway? I mean, Montezuma was a ruler...

But, no. You were pretty clear when passing last round; if it's PRINCESS, we would have been given a 1-word clue. (And if that's how we're being clued, we should have been given Dido 2 last round. It's how I would have clued PRINCESS/IVORY. This is a Civ site, after all.)

Plus, I don't know what the Genevieve clue for blue team refers to, but PRINCESS has to be a possibility, if only because they're both gendered words?

Honestly, I'm tempted to pass again. We have a lead; we should play it safe.
