So Derby was intended to clue into horse races, because originally I was thinking I would just clue Track (3) to go for Mine (rail cart tracks?), Pistol, and Circle - but I was always trying to find a way to clue Unicorn without cluing Loch Ness (monster). And I didn't see any connections to derby hats (heh, whoops) on the board. I figured at worst we'd be Mine and Pistol and have a chance Commodore couldn't clue Loch Ness and Cast, but I didn't have much faith we'd have gotten another pick so I needed to tried to connect Mine and Unicorn somehow since the horse connection didn't lead anyone there. Mardoc, how frustrating it was to see you get to horses and then go everywhere but Unicorn!

Argh! Sorry!
I guess the trouble is unicorns are pretty near canonically animals you can't ride, no matter how tempting it is to try. So 'obviously' races are out.

No worries, part of the game.
What was the big draw to Pin? I guess I still don't really understand it.
And on a good note, great job on the Wellington clue. What you all arrived at was exactly what I had hoped to lead you to!

Ah hahah too bad.
For me the big draw was derby pins which is a thing + pins can be used to stake improvements in civ, but also you use pins to hold fabric in place when you are working on improving fashion design of clothes. So I thought there where 3 connections and it had a clear derby connection. I didn't really get unicorn as an improvement so even if it was a horse I wasn't even reconsidering it as connected to derby.

That was quite the worthy round to lurk.
Despite red winning 2 already, I do have a Round 3 board prepared already. So if you want another round let me know who wants to be Spymasters.

Hah, I thought Blue was going to win for sure... everyone's reasoning for Pin sounded solid.
This is all hindsight, of course, but following Red's round two, perhaps Lasso (2) followed by Gunpowder (2) would have worked.
I'm fairly certain I've groused about it before, but "Loch Ness" remains the most bullshit word in the game. There's little you can do with it since the meanings are overly narrow, plus it's actually two words, one of which isn't even English. Bleh.

Good game, guys. I am entirely too pleased with myself on ocarina, thanks for picking that up.
Bob, you read me in almost all cases; Cast and Loch Ness were the other two things I tried to key with animatronics (most famous Nessie picture hoax being a very early animatronic thing). Fiber was scientist or cast (casts being made out of fiberglass), but apparently that was a connection only in my head.
Loch Ness and Unicorn were our banes, two fantastical creatures like that are just hard to clue exclusively.

I guess we got a little bit lucky there as the blues found the assassin but, hey, we`ll take it! Good game everyone.
Fwiw, I`m up for a third round.

Tough game, Pindicator. Once the team goes in the wrong direction, it's hard to pull them back on track.
I'm up for a third round, and will spymaster if no one else wants to.

Sure, I'm game. Fenn, you still want to be blue spymaster?
