Point to Stock
I’m really not sure of the other ones. I would have expected Spring and Ground to be slam dunks, but now that they aren’t I’m not sure anymore.

It's possible that TAG was a farmer word (livestock typically have ear tags), but we would still need two more.
WORM seems like the best of the remaining words, even though I liked Dark Savant's argument against it.
Is there a famous instance of farmers going on STRIKE? Does anyone farm SCORPIONs?

I really like DRAFT next. Surely, that`s a better fit than WORM or SCORPION, none of which are really connected to farming.
If no one joins me on DRAFT, I`d say MOUTH - THUMB - WORM - SCORPION in that order.

I think Thumb is the strongest remaining word, even though I didn't see it at first.

Yeah, at this point it's one of the better remaining words, though I don't think it's best.
MOUTH can be strong or something we should avoid. If Lewwyn wanted us to avoid only SPRING, he could have clued something like Mattress. I'm inclined to avoid MOUTH, but I can also see just taking it after Thumb.

Farmer strikes happen, but what comes to mind first are farm laborer strikes -- it'd be a better fit for Farming.
Scorpion farming is not a thing I've ever heard of.

DRAFT because of minor league baseball teams, i.e. farm teams? I'd be much easier to convince if the clue were farm instead of farmer; as is, I don't see a strong connection.
Although, come to think of it, Clydesdales and Percherons (?) are called draft horses, i.e. animals that can pull a wagon or plow. That is possible.
My top three: DRAFT, THUMB, WORM.
