Vanrober, here is your starting location. Beware of the danger of gazing into the fog, anything outside of the BFC of where you settler is can possibly change before the map is finalized.
It seems a nice start im wondering now if moving 1 north could be worth so that i get the corn in 1 turn although it seems not wet (could you confirm that?), but losing a forest and deer and a turn seems not worth. Nice to see a deer if i had stone in vision i would go celts to try again without agresive rome next to me (hopefully).
I have some time to post a bit of thoughts about this game:
Traits:
As i said some post ago i want to have some fun and learn a bit about the game. On PB59 Josh wasnt really close so i finally was completely disconnected, i was completely out in my first game so im not going to critizise him at all. I think its hard to get in a forum if you are not used to, or at least that happened to me. So maybe i try Asoka. But lets start from the begining.
AGR. I find it really nice trait, it allows to build up an army without much cost, its slow/late game trait, it would be needed to pair with an early trait, maybe try out the combo of Mjmd? Is it enough as eco trait? I would say no.
PRO. Its nice trait for early income, but still doesnt give any hammer advantage, i would pair it with some trait like that.
IMP. Nice trait if the land is little, and i would say its really map dependent, since it would depend of how close/good is the contested land, you have the risk of ruining your economy. Really nice to use but only with eco traits (PRO,ORG,FIN)
FIN. Right now it seems a really good trait since the nerf is for coast and it seems there is non near, with that riverside it seems really tentive to cottage the universe. Its a passive trait that needs 0 skill, but it doesnt buff any hammer.
ORG. I think its the best trait right now, at least in watery maps, although it seems this is not a game like that. Its passive trait in eco, and it gives good hammer boost in several needed buildings.
SPI. I think its one of the most skilled traits of the game (if not the most), although its really good in good hands (mig+rusten for example). I feel completely unable to use it well, but i really would like to give it a try and see my feelings on it. Its really hard to pair it for me, ive seen several thoughts of Krill and others about the trait, but i feel its completely hard, if i pair it with IMP o feel i lack economical trait and i would be close to bankrupcy, if i go an eco trait i feel i cant handle expansion good enough. So its really tricky. I need to sim crazy fast so i can know what to pick.
PHI. This is the other trait i would consider really skilled, im not really used to hire GP (and i didnt really have time to do it in any game, ive just hire 2 SC at most). I dont even feel motivated to try it.
IND. This is an interesting trait, i ve always feel its really bad until i started to talk with Amica, the forges boost is great and needed in every city and even more in a pangea map. Forges are not just useful for production, it also gives happy. Also the wonders bonus can help with economy with failgold, which in every sense seems really nice. If there is not any IND i think i could give it a try.
EXP. Really interesting to try, its a trait that gives a bonus in the first building you get in every city, it allows you to 1 whip it fast so your whips become even more powerful really fast. Harbours bonnus seems also nice if you are in a watery map and have also PRO or TGLH or Carthage.
CRE. I thought this was the "trait for noobs" and thats the main reason i took it on PB51, but ive seen Mack and TBS geting it with really good resoults and valuing pretty higher than me. I am this kind of guys that usually tries to understand what do the best players and tries to replicate (and then its crazy bad on my hands). Its really dependent on the map, on PB60 it would be a really good trait (amica thinks its the best you could have pick, and i level it also a bit lower) So the thing is, did tarkeel took the critize and made the map a bit less CRE needing, or did he just do a similar map on this case? Thats how my head is melting.
CHA. I almost forgot to talk about this, ive already tried and i liked it a lot, it gets faster culture, it gives happy that you can use on whiping or on growing cottages, and also the bonus of less xp is really nice. But happy is really dependent of the map, as far as i see there is ivory in this map so it might mean there would not be happy issues. Less interested.
So Asoka is fitting in my previous thoughts, the strongest Trait (ORG) with a new trait for me so i have fun and learn some in the game (SPI). Other options could be Justinian (SPI/IMP) since mig and rusten are cracks with it, and maybe reading them i get how to do it so i dont get into bankrupcy. Or maybe i should take something fun like HQ (FIN/IND) to try something less skilled but not really used and also fun. Or should i try to see if im better than on PB51 and try the exctly same combo? A lot to think about. Also LY seems really strong for me, having PRO with this river so that i can conect cities fast without roads makes a lot of sense, it allows to expand senseless without going into bankrupcy.
CIV:
The more i play the more i see the early tech cruzial in this game. On PB60 getting the best early tech made us play at least decent start with really bad early traits. So im wonder which tech are the best, i think they are Mining hunting or mining agriculture or even maybe mining wheel, but i need to sim this to see which is better. I guess i will be some hours on this, i hope i dont slow the snake pic too much, im forth in any case.
I think i will lock a civ before than the leader, since i feel really confident with a lot of the leaders, and i dont want to get a slow start because of the early tech.
If i go with SPI i would like to get a mist civ so that i can get to religion and several civics fast in the game to make use of it from the start. But i still need to see how that works.
MAP:
i've already spoiled my thoughts about it, and most are just questions to myself. Is Tarkeel considering a map like PB60 as Pangea? If we see what does Pangea means, its really easy, just 1 landmass, okey so no other continents (i guess islands are allowed) so PB60 is a pangea (at least as far as i know, maybe there is some hide continents idk). To start there is no dileme about sugar or plainshill, so something has change, also early happy resource on the capitol, which wasnt either on PB60. It seems the map is mirrored, if its like that also getting civ first makes sense since we all will want some good starting tech, and it might not be too many civs like that, even more if we add as requirement good UU or UB then there will be even less.
Right now Asoka of India making fun of the unrestricted leaders seems good xD

Yes i meant that, walls and castles arent usefull on early game, so it has no boost in that sense. The only civ it gets profit about it is celts by having the culture on the walls, but being of 50h without stone it makes no sense. Thats why im not picking pro celts.
khemer starting tech are the best i could sim (hunting mining) It means build worker while searching agriculture, then branzeworking to chop crazy with that many forest. It means it probably is mirrored somehow. Nice to see khemer coming back after the nerf to his UU. but i gues that its still better than germany and Ethiopia.
Lets see what picks renneker. He seems really into the posting mood. Mjmd put him with Mig, that said that has not much time to dedlurk, so he probably is the best of the new guys, i would even say he is the favourite to win this game right now (Or at least thats my bet!)
I might not be clear on that, sorry, lenguage gap xD.
I meant that he took khemer (i wrote that right after he picked it) and it was the perfet starting tech i could sim. So that you could do that path of getting agriculture and then full bronze working. The problem is that i dislike all the civs with hunting mining, but the best of them is khemer and its already picked.
Another option that works fine is agri mining, for china. so that you get hunting and then bronze working. But i felt china was better than khemer and it would be picked before. It didnt.
Still thinking about civ and leader, im didnt sim enough to be clear on any.

Ohw thanks for saying this! You motivated me to do the first one:
Hydrogen:
-Discovered by Boyle at XVII but it wasnt until 100 years later when Cavendish said that gas was aan unknown sustance, an inflamable gas called phlogiston. After 20 years more, Lavoisier discovered that if you burn that gas it was water the final product so he called it "Hydro-gen" (generator of water). (to be continued the history of "phogiston")
-Obtention: there is several ways to get hydrogen, one of the easiest is using some acid and some metals. (for instance aluminum and salfuman) Be careful with doing at home since it can explote. But in the industry the best way to do it is by electrolysis of water, so that you get oxigen and hydrogen.
-Uses: It would be great to use it as fuel for engines. It would be great since it wouldnt pollute at all the air. But there is several problems, first one its much more expensive than petrol derivates, its also more dangerous.
And the most curious for this chapter of chemestry facts: The molecule of Hydrogen is so small that it can overstep the space between atoms of metals, so you cant hold hydrogen in tanks since every second you lose much of it. Right now the best way is adsorbe the molecules in some special surfaces of some special and expensive metals like Platinum or Paladium, it still overstep the tank, but much less. the problem of this method is that those tanks are soooo heavy, and really unables the use for transport. All these loses makes the hydrogen even more expensive.
Right now scientist are trying to use some nanotubes of carbon to adsorbe Hydrogen with better yields and during more time, with lighter tanks.
Right now there is some researching about using this Hydrogen produced during night when the electricity is much cheaper, to react with carbon dioxide to make methane and move that methane into the cities for the boilers of the houses. Im not sure if this is comon in other places but the mayority of the people of Spain, uses this methane (we call it "gas ciudad"-> "city gas") for the boilers of the houses for either warm water and heating of the house.
So Rekenner took Cathy (IMP/CRE), TBS has it on PB59 and... he is doing great (i dont think this can ever been a spoiler, we are kind of used to that xD) " early traits to expand crazy and claim as much land as possible. I wouldnt like him close to me, for either having this early strong pick, when im planning to have late game one, and for being the clear favourite with Sullla and Mig around.
I think i wanna try to make fun of the unrestricted leaders and take Asoka of India, its a bit slower in tech than Russia but i think that the fast workers will make that work and even will be better.
