Might take France. Tech Feudalism, Machinery, Guilds, Gunpowder and go wreck face with Kinghts and Musketeers.

Germany with the same tech path plus a Chemistry bulb is slower but may be surer. France's UB is unchanged and is underwhelming, Germany gets early better Factories.

Russia is solid with an good (excellent if Philo) UB and an excellent but later UU. Alexander or Gandhi.

England has solid UU and UB.

America doesn't get a UU but the UB is interesting, 2 colourless GPP from a Library.

Hmmmmm.....and then there's the Vikings.

And a water start with what looks like 2 islands nearby.

I'd rather play AS the Scandinavians than against them if water is a factor.

I'm going with Vikings and I'll see which of Boudicea, Montezuma, Ragnar, Alexander, and Stalin are still available.

Pole Arms are a better naming theme than fairy tales.

How about the fairytale in which I play a peaceful builder game as Boudicea of Vikings? 

 


But I'm leaning towards pole arms.   Gygax lists 26 of them in "The Nomenclature of Polearms"  which should be good enough for city names on a small map.
