Terrific news. The eureka for Astrology is ours.

District planning. Yeah I am not happy yet. I will do a more thorough district planning lateron.

I would hate to build a city on the spices, but it would be more optimal then the cities w and e.

Whosit= Trajan of Rome

Whosit plays CIV VI MP for the first time. From what I see, he seems not to be afraid of wars. A quick legion rush could be nasty and fatal for other players.

Chevalier Mal Fet= Tokugawa of Japan

Overanalysis, gigantic threads and great economy. Tokugawa is frankly awesome. His internal trade routes are really, really good. I am most worried about him.

TheArchduke= Jayavarman of Khmer

Khmer, religious builder civ. The UU does not lend itself to a war. Maybe we will surprise everyone with a faith bought super army.

greenline= Seondeok of Korea

Korea is a great civ, greenline is a bit new, but seems a dedicated pitboss player.

Krill= Yongle of China

Krill seems to play CIV VI like a grumpy uncle in the basement. Yongle is really nasty if his cities get huge. Let´s hope he will busy with a war with someone else or myself.

Turn 13

So a quick couple of turns where I move my warrior. I did screenies, but who cares about those turns.

So I finish my 2nd warrior. And start a settler. Current thinking is locking in the cost of the holy site, push the settler our and establish a 2nd city with a holy site.

Let´s go over my capital:

Unsurprisingly the best holy sites can be built on the river. You notice I decided on the Holy Site to the west of the city. Thinking is that I will not chop the forest on the spices and I could keep the forest on the hills. I want to do this anyway. My capital is production starved and I do not see a way out via chopping. Magnus does not look enticing for Don´t Panic. The cultural bomb nets me only 2 space instead of 3. Forget about the Holy Site in the north, I do not have the money to buy a 3rd ring tile.

So, now I have the holy site planned, let´s see about the other districts. Now let me establish an aqueduct. I also have to consider the other city sites.

To not have a suboptimal holy site, the 2nd city needs to buy the tile where I want to plop down my holy site for +3 instead of +2 faith. But the first ring of the 2nd site is juicy. Not only the spices but a 1f/3h tile.
So, slowly thinking about the aqueduct shows that I can boost 2-4 tiles with the aqueduct, which multiplied by 2 gives me the bonuses I can achieve. Next I need to sort out farming triangles in the north to maximize food production. Also as I am not Russia I have to consider which tiles I can get. I want the spices in my first ring to get the city of the ground which gives me 2 possible city locations. The cows are too close to a barb camp and I can make a desert tile productive. Also hiding my city behind 2 hills where I can shoot on flood plains makes my city a nightmare to conquer.

People love to forget this is a wargame as well. I also do not want fish ressources or a harbour where I get rid of forests. My harbor city has to be in the south.

So desert tile or grassland hills. The grasslands hills is even more defendible but I need to establish 2 districts to get rid of the desert. But the aqueducts which is possible is more awesome. So:

So, I have to see which district setup I can establish coupled together with my capital. Optimal placement of 5 districts of my capital and 4 in the 2nd city. And assume 10 worked tiles.

SITE A

SITE B

I lean towards site A currently.

So much for my current city planning.

Turn 16

I plop the Holy Site down on turn 15 and continue on my settler.

In news, I find a 3rd barb camp to the west and next turn a CS on turn 17 if you squint through the fog north of my southern warrior.

With water on both sides and no obvious contact, I could very well be on an island.

Turn 17

I encounter Preslav and snatch God King and Discipline.

Preslav looks really juicy. The question is when can I conquer it and do I need a ship.

Turn 22

Quick morning turn.

One barb camp will be gone, the 2nd warrior comes back to escort the settler and then take care of the barb camp south of the capital.
