.My dad said he thought the winning photo looked like an ad for one of those sci-fi movies - kid looking out across Crater Lake right before being abducted kind of thing.
I wonder if it's not the whole point & shoot element that went into the judges' decision. Since the whole point of the feature is not, "Hey photographer wanna-be's - send us your really cool pictures from around Seattle!" It seems more geared towards a spontaneous "moment from your weekend," which the winner certainly was - a happy point-n-shoot accident. How spontaneous is me lugging my expensive camera and annoyingly heavy tripod around the Seattle Center at night, calculating 10-second exposures?
Although most of my best shots do seem like happy accidents.
