I'll take KK for $1000.
I have finally decided to put down some cash and register a website. It is www.ruffhi.com. Now I remain free to move the hosting options without having to change the name of the site.

I can't speak for everyone, but I would like to see MP write ups. I know that they are a different beast than SP since often there is not any time to take notes during the game, but if you can piece a writeup together from the chat record and screenshots then you will definately have me reading your MP games nod. Then everytime you write a report on an MP game up start a thread over here with a link for some discussion. Anyway that would be ideal, if you can't manage that any writeups would be great nod.

Inland Sea? That shot is from an Inland Sea map?

Heh.

Then you're all barking up the wrong tree, folks. Like way off base. The start point finder code doesn't apply to Inland Sea. I wrote positional placement templates for that map script, to ensure optimal spacing even when the map is run in MP and badly overcrowded. (The traditional start point finder does NOT handle overcrowding very well at all.) You get the best plot within a two tile radius of your geometric center, and that's that. The spacing between players is more urgent than the local land quality. Take an extra turn and move if you have to, although you'll be moving toward somebody.

So don't be dissing the start plot finder for inland sea. It does its job. It's one of the few exceptions to the main finder. Soren wrote the main finder and didn't want anybody, even me, messing with it, so you guys now know more about its code than I do, but I overrode it for specific maps where something else was needed. Like Inland Sea.

Speaking of bad capitals...

I started a random game last night (shuffle, random temp and sea level). Start shows this pretty rough beginning, with just crabs and deer to offset a bunch of plains...

Well, a little more exploring showed me the extent of my territory!

On the other hand, this gave me a chance to play a very challenging game without having to play AI tricks. I'm in the middle of it now, we'll see how it turns out. If you wish to play, you can grab the starting save from below.

Epic, Monarch (probably plays like Emperor or a bit above), culture flip after conquer is enabled and everything else is default.

Well I won't diss the start plot finder for inland sea b/c the spacing is almost always good and if there is a problem it is normally b/c the host made the map to small or too large. However I will complain about my neighbor's capital (I took the screen shot when he finally broke the choke I had put on him).

Here is my capital, you can see it on the bottom- Timbuktu

Don't let the win there fool you, it was not easy to overcome my nieghbor's advantages. My capital had corn, sheep, and horses that is it. My neighbor had 2 gems, grassland cows, 2 marbles and 2 dyes it is like someone made that start for him. Also none of the resources were under jungle or anything. Did I mention my neighbor had a river too (I got a lake) that civ is Ragnar (Financial and Aggresive) two traits that are very nice in ancient MP.
