I dunno how you guys can just have them sitting on the shelf - I absolutely devour new ones when they're released.

I vaguely recall reading somewhere that RJ was planning on the series taking 7 books... Then it got too complicated, with so many main characters to follow (which I don't mind). I hope he manages to finish the series, he's quite ill, unfortunately. See http://www.tor.com/jordan/ if you hadn't heard.

Yeah, Book 10 is the slowest book I've read in a long time. So if I hadn't been like... Obsessive up until then no way I'd have gotten through it. So if you pick back up at book 6/8 ( ) then be prepared for book 10. Actually... *considers* read the summary of book 10, and save the time. I'm told book 11 is better, though! I'm not reading it until it comes out in paperback though to space out between books time.

I know he's sick and I'm hoping like hell he churns out one more before he goes. (That sounds so cold, doesn't it? Wow. I think I'm going to hell. ) Anyhoo, I think he's contracted for 12 books and 3 prequels (he's done one already and is working on book 12). I read an interview somewhere where he saids he'd finish the story with book 12 even if he had to make the book 2000 pages (which isn't too far off from wheat he'll need to tie up all the loose ends I think).

I read the first 3 books or so and decided to wait until he'd done the series, then read them all at once. I'm still waiting.

I tend to do that too. But when I get tired of waiting for the next one to come out, I end up reading a bunch of others in between. Then I lose some interest, lose track, and then I just feel like waiting until he's done with the series.
