Adv 24 - Wonderful Life - Mortius's report

Hi,

congrats on building all 34 wonders! thumbsup

What your report showed me is that I was way too paranoid about the AIs building wonders. You built some wonders very late, later than I had believed possible: Pyramids 775BC (me: 1160BC), Great Lighthouse in 25BC (me: 625BC), Hanging Gardens 450AD (me: 100BC). I had expected these wonders to fall earlier, and yet you all got them. Maybe that was because no AI was industrious and the map lacked stone and marble; looks like I could have played more relaxed and with more focus on proper expansion after all. nod

I think we have different priorities smile
I built Oracle before Pyramids (1440 BC, you: 950 BC), because I thought it would definitely fall earlier.
I built Shwedagon Paya in 300 AD (you: 720 AD) because I was affraid someone would use the Gold multiplier.
And you built Colossus extremly late in 900 AD (me: 425 AD). Did you have the Metal Casting monopoly so long?

Before the game I thought completing all the Wonders is impossible. After the game I were sure I will not be the only one to complete them all. Congrats to you too thumbsup

Agreed about the Pyramids, which in BtS get built a lot later than they used to in vanilla. But it was mainly the late Great Lighthouse and Hanging Gardens that surprised me - I've definately seen both fall earlier before. Especially the Gardens get built a lot earlier than in vanilla - but without stone, the AI was probably less inclined to build them in this game.

I'm not sure how long I had the MC monopoly (nothing about that in my notes...), but I know I only started to build it a couple of turns after the monopoly was broken, relying on my industrious trait.

Thanks for the pictures of that fishing village. I'll have to remember that when planning for games that will run long into the future.

(Note: you settled an Engineer in that city?! 8) I guess you were out of wonders by then.)
