Nice...very nice smile.

Its going to have to wait because regoarrarr sent me his save, which wasn't password protected. Guess its a good thing we have the exact same start [Image: crazyeyes.gif]. I will post some tactical plans based on screenshots at lunch time.

Okay, so got MY save this time. Here is the start, which you no doubt have seen an inverted form of:

And after settling:

I moved paritally to preserve the forest but mostly to "be different". Most chess games are pretty boring early on because they are so predictable. Now at least there is a little flavor smile. The move trades an Ocean tile that I would never work for a Desert tile that I'll never work. It also orphans at least three coastal tiles (you can tell we are at the map edge by the hard line). We must be near the south pole as well because of tundra in view. Not a strong start, but I hope to do great things with it nod.

I decide to go workboat first while growing to size 2, then swap to the two plains forests to leverage EXP properly. It has a decisive advantage in both food and hammers, even considering the Corn is improved 2 turns earlier (worth 4F and that's it, since we won't work the mine until size 3). My tech path will be Mining -> Bronze Working.

So rego called me out on my move, I guess he used F10 to determine the number of land tiles I had an realized what i had done. He observed that the best reason to move was to get a canal city, and of course I pretended I knew that all along wink.

I had to check rego's thread to see that you are already at turn 5/6 yikes
And all those turns without any posts/screenshots from you nono
No wonder you fall back in pc-race. I fear if this sloppiness continues I have to change sides wink

Well there isn't really much to post if you don't do C&D analysis. I guess its pretty easy in a duel to hit F10 every turn and figure something out at least, I did verify that he also grew to size 2 so worked the Corn first. I'll see if I can deduce anything else, and post a screenshot of the defogged tiles smile.

There doesn't seem to be an ocean tile in your starting position's BFC...

Okay let's see. Most things are the same. He is probably also working two plains forests while building a Worker. Err. His GNP is better though, and he has more soldier points. I went Mining first, maybe he went for some other tech that a) gives soldier points, and b) gives a discount on whatever tech he is currently researching. Is there any resource that lists what techs are worth soldier point wise?

It is possible the worldbuilder is messed up and somehow we have contact, and he is getting a discount on Mining because I know it. He could see my land when he got the save (it was defogged).
