Unrestricted, Snake Pick, Duplicates allowed
Does a Snake Pick draft-type system work if you allow Duplicate leaders? If you can pick the same leaders/civilizations as someone else then the draft is pretty silly.

Correct me if I am wrong, but these seem to be the options relevant to the map decided upon thus far:
No tech trading Events off Espionage enabled Unrestricted leaders Are you guys planning to vote on difficulty, barbs, and huts? Or is that up to my disgression? Since there seems to be a consensus on "flying blind", I am planning to have everyone start in a massive expanse of desert with a single tundra tile in the very center of the map. I am sure this is okay with everyone. Haha just kidding. Maybe.
Tatan Wrote:Correct me if I am wrong, but these seem to be the options relevant to the map decided upon thus far: I don't care at all what the settings are and would be happy for the map-maker to chose whatever was felt to be best for the map. However I think I would like to know the settings before choosing leaders, but it is not super important to me. Tatan Wrote:Since there seems to be a consensus on "flying blind", I am planning to have everyone start in a massive expanse of desert with a single tundra tile in the very center of the map. I am sure this is okay with everyone. That sounds like it would be a very balanced map. So long as we're all playing on a map that is equally good or bad, I'm fine.
1) I prefer unrestricted leaders snake pick, no duplicates. I'd be fine if we wanted to restrict some choices of traits and/or civs (for example, I'd be alright with no fin or phi and no India, Inca, Rome, and a couple others that always seem to get picked). I'd also be fine with no restrictions though.
2) I'm fine with either PBEM 3 method or in-game contact. I'd also be fine with a CTON if anyone else wanted to go that route. In other words, I'd support everything except contact from the start. 3) I like map trading and screenshot trading at paper. 4) Evenings Pacific Time (from about 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., with 7 onbeing the most reliable). Can't remember what GMT Pacific is off the top of my head (if Eastern is -5 is correct, then it would be -8 ). 5) In regards to the map, I like the idea of flying blind, however I will say I would generally prefer more food resources to less food and also wouldn't want a map where the game essentially becomes a race to the great lighthouse. Oh, and I'd also support not having ivory on the map (and obviously making sure everyone has the other strategic resources, although I would suspect any map maker would do that anyway) In regards to Tatan's questions: I'd strongly prefer huts off. To keep tech pace going (as it is a NTT and all), I'd prefer prince or noble if the map is toroidal and prince or monarch (or lower is fine) if it is cylindrical or flat. I'd prefer barbs off personally, but would be fine with normal barbs too. SilentConfusion Wrote:Does a Snake Pick draft-type system work if you allow Duplicate leaders? The Votes are in:
1) No Duplicates with Unrestricted Snake Picking. There was little entheusiasm for banning particular traits or civs, so I think everything should be available. Can someone (Our Glorious mapmaker perhaps?) randomize the list of players that we have to create a draft order? 2) Standard in-game contact wins 3) No restrictions wins 4) OK the list is: Cjreynol (GMT -5) SilentConfusion (GMT -7, but will move to GMT -5) ShoottheMoon (GMT -8 ) WarriorKnight (GMT +8, but I'm often available earlier than meatbalz) meatbalz (GMT +8 ) We also need to sort the turn order out. Can our Glorious mapmaker decide on who will go first (by randomization of course)? Or is that up to my disgression? I believe that is up to your disgression. However, since we don't favor events, I think that there should also be no huts. Barbs and Difficulty should be set to whatever you want, however to second Shoot the Moon, we should try and keep the settings resonably normal to keep things going. Something we didn't decide on was the game speed. Since this is a NTT PBEM, Quick is probably best, although I'm also fine with Normal.
The Magnificent Mapmaker has determined a draft order via http://www.random.org:
Silent Confusion meatbalz Cjreynol Shoot the Moon WarriorKnight The Wondiforous Mapmaker also foretold that WarriorKnight shall go first.
I'd suggest Quick speed. The only PBEM that's moving at Normal is my 2p game w/ Krill. And we're at 1050 AD after about a month of play, but can sometimes do 5-10t in an evening (and did like 30-40 in the first day alone). The other games are moving slowly enough with 5 players as it is; at 1t a day on average, you'd be looking at 10-15 months, instead of 7-10.

Alright, Quick it is. So unless anyone has anything else they would like to add for rules, then I think we can start the snake pick.
