Apparently you're correct Jowy, at least Sylon seems to be underestimating Mackoti.

Heads up- Mackoti has calendar.

He also has Marble.

And a Great Engineer.

And the Pyramids.

And he's Philosophical.

Bloody hell. That's the very strategy I had hoped for in the opening stages of the game. Why couldn't I have gotten his start?

Calm down, calm down. This can be turned to my advantage. Diplomacy with Pegasus will be coming once I figure out an excuse to open communications. Mackoti may be lucky, but he lacks in skill and diplomatic finesse. I can turn this to my advantage.

(Also, I suspect he's building the Hanging Gardens already, judging by production- 40 hammers as opposed to the average of 32)

Having looked at his thread again, I'm not sure that Sylon's early settling of "Wonderland" actually made any sort of sense for him. His economy right now seems to utterly blow (losing gold at 20% science with hardly any beakers per turn...), and his lack of calendar means that his far forward city is hardly making even a third of its early-game commerce potential. All he really has done is increase his maintenance, over-extend his supply lines, and provide a tempting target for Mack, Kodi, and Ruff.


Speaking of Ruff, I wonder why his power is so low. Were I in his position I'd be trying to get half-dozen HA build ASAP to go seize my share of the center.
