What do you think of Cre/Ind Byzantium? No Ind leaders were picked so far, and Byzantium wants to explore the Aest tree early, with UB at Drama. Might as well take advantage of all the wonders in the Aest tree smile

If you're going for Ind, we may want to aim for Oracle to get early cheap forges and help accelerate the hammer side of our growth curve. If so, Mali would be nice.

What say you Lewwyn? Up to play a 3rd Bismark of Mali game lol?

Hehe, time to make the final decision and pick something smile

Louise XIV (Cre/Ind) of Byzantium
Zara of Byzantium or Maya
Bismarck of Mali lol
Any other combo?

Yeah screw it let's go Louis of Byzantium. No one's picked IND, making it so much stronger on this map (though I doubt Commodore pulled a Krill and deleted all the Marble from the map). CRE is easy mode, don't need to worry about getting 2nd ring borders at all. If we miss out on uber Sury, may as well go for uber Byzantium.

I will say that we're better off ignoring the top of the tree, I'd rather spend the medieval era teching to Guilds and stomping someone with Cataphracts.

Excellent, Louis is my preferred pick too. I'll wait for a few hours though, maybe Lewwyn hates him smile

The nice thing about Louis of Byz is that either way should work out well smile I wouldn't make any firm plans for now, we'll see how the game progresses and decide

The map tempts me to make a play for the Oracle, build Colossus, and then use the 2/0/3 tiles to rex to a critical military tech, before destroying one or two of our nearest neighbours. Anything else may be a distraction.

Hey nice! I love the Louis of Byz pick. I actually like it better than Hattie or Isabelle Especially since we're the only IND civ. Thats one of the benefits of going last, you get to see if anyone's doubling traits on you. And I love CRE way powerful.

Best part is you can forget about early Stonehenge now and just go straight for Oracle.

FYI we're up to pick now.

And yeah I'm happy not to go with Bismark of Mali again. It's a SOLID pick but I'm good with going for a different start this timelol

Oh and guys with Byz we have Myst and the wheel starting techs. Thats the only downside here. With that I recommend we settle inland. Inland was always the better play anyway since WB starts are slower. Now we should definitely go inland and tech agr first, worker start and farm the rice.

Thing is we still need Mining>BW as well. Maybe Agr>Mining>BW start. At least our worker can farm the rice and start building a couple roads.

Yeah, thought you wouldn't be happy about playing the same leader again and again and again lol

And sorry about lack of posts in the afternoon, it was a little crazy at work, I could only post our pick, but nothing else

Whether the top of the tree will be a distraction or a necessity will depend on how many happy resources we find. Our UB provides at least +2 happy (I assume we will have horses), and allows an easy way to fight war weariness - that could be quite valuable

Capital inland and Agri -> Mining -> BW sounds good to me. Hope we will be able to fogbust well enough to defend vs barbs until we have copper connected
