Yes, it would certainly discourage ties of all sorts. Would aiming for a tie b an assassin tell then?

Ties between guards are broken using random.org. Obviously, the mod should never reveal whether or not he did use random.org to break the tie.

This means that there is a definite risk involved in tieing the king, particularly late in the game. Also, the assassin never loses to a random coin flip.

this is worse than randomness. are you just trying to make sure there is never a tie? with that setup a villager would be better off voting for someone he thinks is innocent just to avoid a tie, which could never go the villages way.

Well, the best way to break a tie is arguably to avoid it in the first place. :P

Though come to think of it, we had one WW game where ties resulted in no lynch, and that was a bit of a nightmare near the deadline. So maybe this wasn't such a good idea after all.

Random.org to break all ties, then? Or any other ideas?
If you know what I mean.

I don't think theres anything better than random here. Slowcheetah broke my idea of lynch order guard --> assassin --> king, but I haven't been able to think of a better one.

I suppose we could elect a mayor, but that probably just adds a strange layor to the game and/or makes it too easy for the assassin.

I haven't really thought this through all that thoroughly, but maybe the king could have a tie-breaking vote. If he isn't voting for either of the tied candidates, random.org decides. Ties would still be kind of bad, because the assassin could deduce who the king is. But on the other hand, all guards would know who the king is voting for and could act accordingly.

You could say that if there is a tie, the King can PM me who he wants to kill, even if he isn't involved in voting for either of the tied players.
