PB22 - Substitute for Gawdzak

you're all insane. I can log back into the server and kick that civ to AI though. If it was a hopeless situation and there wasn't much expectation that I'd have to make a good effort to spend the time necessary to try to win I could consider it, since I have some free time right now. But I don't want to spend an hour of every day playing out somebody else's game. What's so wrong with letting the AI take over so the other players can still contest for the win?

What would be worse, letting the game die or letting Gawdzak's civ be taken over by AI, with restrictions against remaining players abusing the AI for advantage? I don't know the existing game state, but I would guess letting the remaining contenders finish out the game would be better than calling off the ending. What do you guys think? There's no way kicking Gawdzak over to AI would make any sense; he has like close to 100 cities and we have nearly 300 turns of diplo stuff built up. The AI would probably randomly declare war on someone and just dump all of his troops in their land while leaving the rest of their empire defenseless, essentially ending the game.
That's not necessarily a problem that couldn't be overcome by a human reclaiming the civ long enough to enforce peace, as long as the other players agreed to that restriction, and to not otherwise abusing the AI. Basically, don't interact with it and keep on playing the game as before. Unless that isn't possible for some reason.

It just doesn't make any sense to me. Why bother spending 50h of my time to finish the game if its gonna be like that? Just to make a victory screen pop up for someone? I've felt reluctant to even accept a veteran sub so close to the finish line, but eventually came to the conclusion that a veteran sub would be better than nothing at all... but an AI would be a complete waste of my time.
I don't assume the AI would win the race. It's more so you guys could finish the game yourselves. So what if Gawdzak's civ loses or blows a lead (if it has one)? Better than ending the game where it is now IMO, but I'm not invested so it isn't up to me.
