Yes, we aim to start the actual game in Mid December, end November being the holiday season in the US.

diplomacy should be open for the teams (as they are locked in alliances anyway), so PM are fine or having a shared thread to discuss strategy.

I'm going to just lay it out there that for within-team conversation, I tend to always be on Google Hangouts or Discord and would want to do most of my chatting through plans and strategies on there.... Commodore/Scooter can attest.

I am fine with having teams communicate how ever they want.

Another thing to discuss is turn order. So 4 teams A, B, C, D. Do we want something like AABBCCDD or ABCDABCD or random? Does it even matter, IDK?

As a random lurker with no standing, I suggest:

Turn pace in an 8-player PBeM is already likely to be slow, and combining them into 4 teams of 2 is actually likely to slow things down rather than speeding them up if players spend time consulting within their team. My best guess at "fairest order" is a "snakepick" - ABCDDCBA - but the best order would be the one that gets the turns played fastest, and something like AABBCCDD, with overlapping time windows on each team might work best for that. (That way, when teams want to coordinate, they can do so, play, and pass the save all in the same window, at least in theory. ABBCCDDA would almost do this while improving balance, except city states and barbs would move in between the A players, potentially leading to more discussion between turns and slower turn-arounds.)

I'm pretty sure turn order isn't nearly as important to Civ6 balance as city state quests and barb camps' proximity to horses, so I think play windows should definitely be the primary factor in any case.

Me and Mike (my lurker from pbem5) have discussed joining the team game. We'd like to enter as a team, though I'd have to ask him tomorrow if he is okay with a mid-december start.

If I can state preference, I would like to either team up with

Singaboy, so we can put a bit of bad blood behind us and work together.
Woden, because with my economic ineptitude and his military ineptitude we might make a decent player between us.

EST time zone, can play a turn possibly in the morning 6:00am - 8:30am or get it in after work 6:30pm to midnightish
I think if an all possible fairest turn order would be ABCDDCBA.
Don't care about settings and have all the DLC. Might need some help with the mod since i do not use them.
