Not my day. Was hoping for a dogpile and kept the war going against Gavagai, even if there was not much to gain for a couple of extra turns. Then when no one seemed to join decided to offer peace for Gavagai and naturally Commodore declares the very same turn frown.

I'd suggest not worrying about that too much. Us lurkers, with full information, are having trouble understanding this.
