To be honest. I just realized that you predicted that. After all your prediction and his decision is only an hour appart. Great job.

I'm just surprised you passed up the opportunity to play with 12 strength knights. If there's anyone I had pegged to pick Byzantium it was you, but I guess the snakepick order also mattered for that.

Byzantines are awesome, we are going in as their color.
This is one hell of an...interesting start. Deer cod in heaven.

Should your cap be Luonnotar's step?

We didn't discuss this but we should have realized mapmaker meta when we were talking about civ picks. It seems really obvious now that krill wouldn't give a farm-resource start, so I am really glad we didn't settle on China or waste a point on any other Ag civ.
Trying to glean the settings from the screenshot. Base BtS Hunting costs 60 yet we're still managing to pull it in 7 turns. Emperor gives 1.2 mod which would bring the cost up to 72 so I'm wrong about something here
Edit: I'm going off of a RtR tech cost, that's my problem!

Huh. That is a head-scratcher. Is that NE deer forested? I'm not sure from the screenshot.

Both deer are forested. It's a weird start. Thus far, only one more food, but in a horrible backline.

Quote:Ragnar of the Zulu might be better, but this is a scary scary thing folks. Theorycrafting about swords is all well and good, but having base strength 8 units at the dirt cheap 40 hammer cost is bad enough, but C2 makes those 9.6, something that I can’t even see wanting to push knights in towards. Ragnar’s Financial goodness will be “good enough” to handle the rest. Despite the pick only costing a total of 4 points, this actually might be the second best pick, certainly top three.
Wasn't the old meta consensus that BtS Rome starts too slowly?
