What's the easiest way to disable the Apostolic Palace in the XML? I spotted some old CivFanatics posts suggesting that setting the build cost to "-1" was an option but I wasn't certain where to find the Apostolic Palace wonder in the files. I'm open to suggestions about espionage visibility as well although it's a less important concern.

At work atm, so can't test it, but simply removing the whole entry in the buildinginfo file should do the trick. Since it was added in BTS, it should be near the end of the file. I think the espionage is super important because it dramatically changes the GDP of the AIs. They're throwing thousands of beakers away trying to keep up with you, and if they have an espionage preference that goes up even further. Maybe Churchill is a monster AI.
![]() If you wind up editing the the AP you need to edit the espionage as well, IMO. Interesting... In theory, that game is easy to read. Let's see what kind of lunacy the AIs manage to conjure up to remain unpredictable !
![]() By the way, have you moved Tokugawa's starting position ? He's got a tundra tile in his fat cross, which is not supposed to happen I believe (tundra and desert tiles become plain tiles in that case).
I think people tend to underestimate peace weight as a factor sometimes for these. A lot of the time the winner isn’t necessarily the strongest leader, but rather the strongest majority peace weight leader. It doesn’t matter how good your economy is by Turn 150 if you get attacked 3+ times before then. That’s my 2c, at least.

But I don't see how you don't STILL pick Mansa in that group of losers. I mean maybe Pacal. About the only exception to that guideline is Mansa, he's the only AI strong enough at tech to shrug of dogpiles at the stage they usually happen. His only weakness is that occasionally his propensity to ignore rifling puts him at a military disadvantage. I reckon if Mansa's tech flavour were commerce/military he'd be unbeatable under the Survivor competition rules.
